Reminder: Win a $5K gaming PC from Falcon Northwest

Look, we're really sorry to keep pestering you about this, but we thought you might like to win a ludicrously powerful Falcon Northwest computer worth five thousand dollars. And don't be concerned about those bullet holes -- they're just decals inspired by Soldier of Fortune: Payback, the latest in the face-splattering first-person franchise. This isn't some old thing we found in a firing range (but we'll be giving some dead raccoons away at a later date).
Since the folks at Falcon Northwest are the experts when it comes to building gaming PCs and we're the experts when it comes to asking obvious questions, we decided to combine our relative talents and present you with a short bit about a different component each day. Why does Falcon Northwest CEO, Kelt Reeves, think the EVGA nVidia nForce 680I - SLI makes for a good motherboard in a gaming system? "Mainly because it has a lot of letters, some of which are even capitalized. I've found that the more capital letters a part has, usually the better it is for gaming. It could also be the dual graphics card capability, quad-core CPU support, and great overclocking capability. But it's most likely the letters."
Just as we suspected. We also suspect you should be heading to the giveaway post (you can enter once each day) to answer the following question in the comments: What useless electronic device is currently wasting space in your house?

I'm one of those people who thinks they can fix everything, so I never throw anything away. Therefore the most useless electronic device I have is probably the broken 27" TV I have sitting in my basement. Or perhaps the 19" CRT monitor that's about 5 years old, I've gotten 2 new LCD monitors since that old CRT broke. I really need to visit the dump...

That would easily be my old I'd have to say, mid 70's tube tv sitting in my sister's room. I mean for god's sake you have to turn a nob to change the channel!

My GBA hasn't been touched for ages. With a DS, there isn't a need for one anymore. I don't have any Game Boy or GBC games anyway.

I have an old portable tape deck/cd player hanging out on the kitchen counter. It's used about once every two months to listen to the radio while I cook.

I have an awesome 20 inch tube tv in my kitchen that sucks more power than my 37 inch lcd... thankfully, it almost never gets turned on.
paralipsis @ Nov 23rd 2007 7:23PM
In reality, all my consoles. My PC should be able to do everything, but the proprietary hardware market and exclusivity agreements make it necessary to have more bits of hardware that do pretty much exactly the same thing if you want to play certain "exclusive" games.

I actually have a special corner of the basement devoted to my old eletronic relics. It currently comprises of an ancient gateway 486, defunct televisions and old VCRs. The king of the wasteheap, an original apple II, was recently donated to an avid vintage parts enthusiast.
Im hoping my current computer ends up in this useless pile very shortly as well, haha.
Prince @ Nov 23rd 2007 9:29PM
Hmm...definitely cd players. They are everywhere. An old ghetto blaster here, a portable one there, a huge sound system with one or two. They are quite useless.
theonenj @ Nov 23rd 2007 9:42PM
I have a RCA VCR that only plays tape if it is up side down.
