Can you play the Wii version without the guitar?

Yes, but the controls aren't nearly as comfortable and fun as they are for the other versions of the game without the guitar controller...

I saw this extra Wii GH3 controller. At least on TRU's website. They had it listed for a price of 59.99!! That's a little too much considering that most of the technology comes out of the wiimote.49.99 or 39.99 but they are really overcharging on something that shouldn't be priced that high.

Yea you can. It's painful. At least me since the buttons are so tiny on the wiimote. I play the wiimote when friends come over.

Even though it's been beat like a dead horse, a hard-drive with downloadable content like the 360 and PS3 would be nice. Since it would basically put it on par with those versions. But that's something nintendo has to work out on their end. I also wonder when wii owners will get a announcement for rock band. Hopefully the GH3 controllers will be supported for a fourth player. Ah well one can hope.

Not sure what it counts for, but I was in GameStop/EBGames this weekend and asked the associate. He said guitars themselves would be Feb 2008. Still seems quite a ways to wait, but luckily we have some good friends who also own the game, so we bring guitars when we get together now.

And yes Clif, I agree, playing the Wiimote is painful. I use the Wiimote and let the wife take the guitar.

Call me crazy, but buying the Wii version of any music game that has DLC on other systems is almost as dumb as buying the PS2 version (for the same reason). If I were willing to shell out that kind of money for such a game in the first place, I'd definitely choose the 360. I get the feeling I'm not alone...

I have a feeling once WiiWare comes out we'll see DLC for GH3, and probably a announcement for Rock Band, as Wiiware seems to be the thing for 3rd parties to develop and distribute content for money on the Wii, no?

James, you're craaazy. for the price of the 360 AND the bundle AND the DLC you could buy a (real) guitar AND amp AND pedal AND music lessons.

Also, if they're so worried about the Guitar Hero guitar being wireless, with a REAL guitar, they can get a wireless input attached to it!

I refuse to buy the Wii version because it's so expensive for just a stupid guitar shell. As mentioned above, all the work is done by the Wiimote, so why is it priced the same as the PS2 controller? It should be way less.

I'll pick it up when it's bargain binned.
