Amen. It really annoys me when I see top of the line third party games for Xbox 360 and PS3, but then they dump complete crap on the Wii. It's insulting, to say the least.

I mean, me being a Wii gamer as you guys at Nintendo Wii Fanboy, we tend to prefer control over graphics. But I want SOMETHING to look better than a Gamecube game. Some of the stuff is even Pre-Gamecube. I feel that sometimes, some of the graphics have like the best that N64 could do.

The worst part is that third party developers think that we're okay with this. I think that maybe Nintendo should control what goes into the Wii software library, and I doubt that they can't see what's happening here. The fact that third party developers think that we're cool with all of this is a joke.

Ummm, can't agree with your statement of "I mean, me being a Wii gamer as you guys at Nintendo Wii Fanboy, we tend to prefer control over graphics."

Very incorrect, good sir. That being said. It's downright laughable the attempts I've seen out of 80% of the 3rd party efforts. Why do they think this crap will sell? How does the Wii being an instant success equate to shovel ware selling well? Crap product is crap product. I don't understand...

So he can say it's got the power of two Gamecubes and it's fine, as long as he doesn't say they're duct taped together?

I'm kidding, but I thought it was an amusing way to twist the words.

I don't think they're lazy, I just don't think they know how to use the Wii's software. Obviously Nintendo does, since they created it.

Well technically any developer that developed on the GameCube should know the hardware; that was one of the big arguments Nintendo made about using similar hardware to GameCube, that developers wouldn't have to really learn anything new.

Personally, I do think most developers are lazy or just looking for a quick buck. Nothing that comes to mind looks anywhere near as good as even Twilight Princess, let alone Metroid Prime 3 or Mario Galaxy. Of course, it really comes down to what type of game each individual one is, and when most of them are minigame compilation shovelware, I guess the graphics don't matter a whole lot. The first Raving Rabbids looked good, though.

Millions of people are snatching up Wiis like there's no tomorrow. Developers are making games and those games are making them truckloads of money due simply to the Wii's enormous userbase. Is doing less work for more money laziness? I guess that depends on your definition of laziness. Frankly, I think they're too busy counting benjamins to give a shit.

Yes, but you can't blame them for trying to pull in revenue without heavy investment. That's what all businesspeople try to do. As consumers we have to show them that crappy ports and lazy efforts aren't going to sell.

Hells yeah they are lazy. There's over 200 games on the Wii and only a handful worth playing. One side I can't really blame them because development time for a triple 'A' title does take time and if you can cash in right now why not... but at the same time some of these ports or quick cash-in mini-games could be a more worthy game if some devs would have put a little more thought into them.

Yeah, this is pissing me off. I mean, I was fine with BWii's graphics, and the game is freakin insane! But, how can you blame developers for doing this? If they ca do less work and still get money, why not do it? Hopefully, once the Wii's are actually on store shelves, they'll start realizing they have to earn their cash.

Its not just the graphics either, though they do tend to play a large part in peoples thoughts of a game. It also comes down to controls, story, and overall development (time put into the piece). Look at Midway...play MK (horrid horrid sound.....) and just look at Fast N Cruisin game. Have they made anything worth noting positively? (I pick them cause they come to mind the most.) There are devs trying, i.e.Capcom, I would even throw Sega, Rockstar (Bully coming), 2K, (and a hit and miss) Ubi.

Amazing they will do all out and spend a ton in development costs for the 360 and PS3, but dont seem to try as much with the Wii that could cost them less to make, but profit so much more.

Development studios are thinking there's a different audience to cater to when it comes to Wii games. Perhaps not many of them know what a bad game is to the extent a seasoned gamer does. Also, I bet many of the studios are putting their less experienced developers on the platform since they've probably got a good bunch of libraries and tools from the GC era that are easy to use. Also, many of the better devs want to make games for the hardware heavy systems that can just do a lot of crazy shit - I'm not sure how many of them are creative - that's usually the product team's job instead of the engineering team.

I have a confession: I own both of the Rayman:Raving Rabbids games, and thus have contributed to Ubisoft's cheap development spree twice. Does that make me a bad person?

Just like what Dopple Boppler said, there are many Wii games that don't even look as good as Twilight Princess, and the funny thing is, Twilight Princess used PURE Gamecube graphics.

I see games like Pokemon Battle Revolution, Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Galaxy, and Metroid Prime 3 from Nintendo. We get, Soulcalibur Legends from Namco, My Sims from EA, and the list goes on with mediocre third party "made from the ground up for Wii" titles.

i just checked ninty's website to search for wii titles. apparently, out of 284 titles (including VC, won't let me search for DISC titles) only 5 are wifi enabled! of those, only one is published by nintendo (strikers). what a gyp! EVERY game should have wifi, just in case it's good, and people want to play it together. not even metroid has it! or mario party... argh, maybe i should just get a 360... even the old xbox had online games. sheesh.

Or you could just be like me and live in an area where broadband isn't and likely will never even be offered. You find you don't tend to worry about Wi-Fi as much, then.

*sigh* The Wii's got amazing potential, and barely anyone wants to improve off of it.
...whatever, jewels pop in and out for the Wii... let's hope that'll inspire the rest.

This really makes me want to create games for the Wii and take the whole issue head on. You know, attempt to make a quality (non-minigame) game and push the Wii's hardware to the upper limit and NOT be afraid to compete with Nintendo's first party games. Is that such a hard thing to do?

I'm hoping against hope that most of the junk that's been hitting the Wii is still left-over "PS3 WILL DESTROY ALL WHO CHALLENGE IT! No? Well, crap."

There was such a huge rush of ports this past year, as companies realized they had massively missed the boat, so they were just throwing whatever they could get their hands on. Let's hope round two will be better.

My issue with developers is the prevailing idea that the Wii needs gimmicky games. As Metroid Prime 3 shows, you CAN make FPS games for the Wii and have them be GOOD.

Just because the Wii has motion controls it doesn't mean that your game HAS to have them. Technical limitations aside, there's no reason some of the PS3/360 games couldn't come to the Wii.

well as long as they can make the games fast enough for the lowest cost, people are still going to buy their games no matter what the quality is.

Problem is there seems to be companies making wii games nintendo doesn't even know about. Ninjabread man and AMF bowling are not even on nintendo's game list. both the ugliest of ugly shovelware. as for wi-fi games there is more than 5. Guitar Hero 3, Strikers, Ghost Recon, Hero's 2, Madden, NBA Live, Pokemon Battle etc...

Certain developers are lazy, and Wii gets those developers disproportionately often, but not entirely, recall all the shovelware that 360 gets, as well, everyone gets the bad movie tie-ins

What's at issue is WHICH developer team one sets to work with Wii. You can have Medal of Honor Heroes 2, or you can have Brothers in Arms Road to Hill 30

Whatever you look at, the flood of shovelware isn't stopping, but a stream of good games is coming to parallel that flood, particularly from the Japanese 3rd parties

I wouldn’t say lazy programmers, I would better say CHEAP and GREEDY producers!

The big budgets are going to ps3 and 360 games. I say c’mon, it’s true that you don’t need the best graphics for the Wii but at least make it a fun experience. A console video game needs more than 8 months.

*****************************
This is what is happening with those crappy producers:

Game Producer A: Hey the Wii is selling a lot, so if we throw a game NOW, we will be millionaires.

Game Producer B: I agree. Wii users aren’t hardcore gamers, so they don’t need deep games.

Game Producer A: I can’t disagree to that logic.

Game Producer B: And we don’t need to be inventive because motion controls in the game is a sure hit.

Game Producer A and B: Show me the money, Show me the money, la-la-la-la.
*****************************

I’m mad because in the store there are lots of last generation games for my new generation console, we all now the Wii is powerful enough for better games, I don’t care if you have trouble programming the control. You had better production value for the Gamecube, please give more production value for the Wii.

If you GAME PRODUCER need help, I’m available ask nintendowiifanboy.com guys for my contact.

If a third party can make an effort with mini-games(micro-games) like nintendo did with WarioWare I'll be satisfied.
