PSN a source of PAIN this Thursday
If you're the sort who revels in the suffering of polygonal citizens, laughing maniacally as ragdoll physics drag their flailing bodies down the stairs and into physically awkward and often impossible positions, the PlayStation Network has the game for you this Thursday. Concisely dubbed "PAIN," the downloadable title hopes to indulge your vicious impulses and charge you $9.99 to repeatedly launch a man from a giant slingshot into an oncoming bus.
Though the game injects several different modes (they had us with "Mime Toss") and online features into the proceedings, we wonder if the game's longevity will extend beyond that of the game'sprotagonist protagonized. We can't wait to find out.

Hitman101 @ Nov 27th 2007 7:26PM
Freeman will beat jo ASS PUNK!!!
Fox318 @ Nov 27th 2007 7:30PM
Freeman will not only beat the crap out of Master Chief, he could solve a crossword puzzle at the same time.
Hey, a man needs to put his degrees to good use.
albinogoldfish @ Nov 27th 2007 7:49PM
dude, no way, master chief would hit him from behind, game over man, game over
MariK FTW @ Nov 27th 2007 7:51PM
SPOILER
Master chief is Gordon Freeman grand son.
If there is a lesson to be learn in Half-life 2 is that girls dig athletic PHD scientists that can kill zombies with a gravity gun (Even if they are 10 or 15 years older).
Now if you excuse me I have to join a gym, finish my homework and invent a gravity gun,Oh..and invent zombies
too.
Poisoned Al @ Nov 27th 2007 7:54PM
That would imply that someone could get behind Freeman.
albinogoldfish @ Nov 27th 2007 8:01PM
well played poison...active camo..beat that
sheppy2.0 @ Nov 27th 2007 8:20PM
robot dog...
sheppy @ Nov 27th 2007 8:22PM
Because Gordan Freeman has an allergy, to every pedigree...
Sesur @ Nov 27th 2007 9:12PM
Two words: Plasma Grenade. The Free Man wouldn't last when stuck with one of those bad boys.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Nov 27th 2007 9:13PM
pssshwa on all you half-life fanboys,
MC could take out Freeman with one punch.
Fox318 @ Nov 27th 2007 11:44PM
@ Vegeta
That's assuming Dr.Freeman isn't throwing a car at you.
And if we bring the super grave gun MC lasts about 1 second.
borland502 (SDF - Macross Ring) @ Nov 28th 2007 6:46AM
Good sirs, not only could Gordon beat MC and discover a unified field theory....
But Dr. Kleiner would teleport MC to some sterile room with a companion cube.
Jack @ Nov 28th 2007 11:17AM
Then Samus Ice Beams both of their asses and super missiles them to high hell.
Hitman101 @ Nov 27th 2007 7:24PM
The game is pretty Zzzzzzz.
I've been launching ragdolls since the early versions of garrymod.
samfish @ Nov 27th 2007 7:34PM
Anything that's been described as "Jackass The Game" cannot possibly be worth even considering, in my book.
...unless you're down with allowing your IQ to drop 30 or so points, that is. Then, by all means, knock yourself out.
gonk @ Nov 27th 2007 7:41PM
or unless it actually is "jackass: the game"
because causing virtual harm on those guys is at least a little satisfying, like stabbing a voodoo doll
albinogoldfish @ Nov 27th 2007 7:44PM
I'm with you gonk
Pika132 @ Nov 27th 2007 7:57PM
Meh. Oblivion DLC, please!
gonk @ Nov 27th 2007 8:00PM
more horse armor?
Pika132 @ Nov 28th 2007 12:39AM
I don't know what they were thinking by not including horse armor with the game; Shivering Isles, OTOH, is worth waiting for.
Sokkratez @ Nov 27th 2007 8:15PM
This game looks awesome :) It was played on On The Spot (gamespot.com) a few weeks ago.
sheppy2.0 @ Nov 27th 2007 8:18PM
As a guy who has done anything from using the slowdown mode in Turok 2 in conjunction with explosive shotgun rounds to play bounce the raptor to happily staking enemies in Painkiller to all sorts of hilarious places, I am intrigued by this game. However, it will live and die by how much time is needed to play it.
I could never get into Stardust because you CAN'T just sit down to play it for about 10 minutes while waiting for some friends to get online. Gripshift was a bit friendlier in that regard. If this game doesn't sport short challenges or even a free mode, it won't get my money.
Random1448 @ Nov 27th 2007 8:20PM
When ever I hear about PAIN i can hear "Macho Man" Randy Savage going "Ohhh YEEEaahh!" in my head for some reason.
Yubastard @ Nov 28th 2007 12:57AM
that is awesome... it shall never get out of my head! XD
ruben magana @ Nov 27th 2007 8:21PM
yeah this looks extreeeeme! i'm gonna grab a mountain dew and do the dew!
Sesur @ Nov 27th 2007 9:14PM
This game looks boring as hell.
Frank @ Nov 27th 2007 9:34PM
Looks like it'd be interesting for a little while then would get old. Similar to the Wii, this is probably just going to be a fad.
Frank @ Nov 27th 2007 9:35PM
And the Wii thing was sarcasm.
Tiger of PTS @ Nov 27th 2007 11:35PM
Why was it sarcasm?
It's true.
farside @ Nov 28th 2007 7:17AM
Pokemon was called a fad.
Sold 164 million of units... second bestselling franchise of all time with the fastest selling ones released just this year, 11 years later.
obviously off topic, but makes you wonder what in the video game world isn't a fad.
McNasty @ Nov 28th 2007 10:40AM
This game looks awesome and for 10 bucks its a buy.
LaughingTarget @ Nov 28th 2007 4:35PM
The total lack of demos on PSN is keeping me from considering this. Not going to chance $10 on a turd.
navstar @ Nov 28th 2007 5:39PM
Really this looks like a Havok demo more than a game.
