Good deal or not, my family gives me enough grief about video games as it is. This would serve more as a "ridicule prompt" more than anything else.

Feel free to ridicule anybody who paid retail for this thing, thinking it would be a collector's item! Also: substitute PS3 launch buyers.

The Haloz R in the internetz!
Good deal for the three people who don't have Halo 3 yet.

What is this Halo that everyone speaks of?

I guess I'm one of the three people who don't have this game. I'm not big on the whole Halo universe but $60 for a game + extras that's worth $130 is a steal.

Whether or not it's worth $130 is debateable. Personally I'd rather get half off the basic game than the legendary because I have 0 interest in the mythos of Halo but wouldn't mind joining my friends in the multiplayer.

After all the video game deals since their BF post (in which they neglected PC games), they post this?

I feel bad for the people that bought this package at launch. Not because they paid $130 for it, but because what once was marketed as a premiere collector's item, is now being mass-produced and price-slashed to sell to the masses.

I guess there is the off-chance that these are left over from the product launch.

I would bet anything that these are left over from launch, hence the discounting. They take up much more warehouse space than the basic game and likely very few people who didn't buy it on launch day would be interested in this.

As for collector's items, sure it was one, but there is no way that something mass-produced on this level would ever appreciate significantly in value in any reasonable amount of time.

I also think these are leftovers. A week after the Halo 3 launch the Fry's near me had a pallet of the legendary editions sitting out in the aisle.

MS did a great job selling Halo 3 games in the first week (like a blockbuster movie) that those legendary editions became white elephants in that short week's time.

I feel a little bit bad for the retailers about Halo 3.

The Best Buy in my town still has approximately 15 Legendary Editions in stock, which have been sitting there since the game launched... they're on clearance for the low-low price of $89.99 (which is also the price they went for with the employee discount).

Microsoft obviously over estimated the demand for this uber-edition, produced too many units, and now the retailers are paying for that mistake.

If they would have just charged $100 in the first place it, this all could have been avoided.

Not a Halo fan here, hell, it will be 3 months before I get to play my Xbox 360 back in CONUS but I had to get this shipped to my APO right away.

Oh, there are plenty of reasons why one would "hold off" buying Halo 3. Possibly to do with the broken single player.

I ordered the big box. It was a Canadian deal of the day at Amazon.ca, also for $59 ($50 with the canada only visa coupon). It is sold out now though. I figured $30 for the game and $20 for the helmet was a good deal.

I was watching this the past two days as for $79.99 and that $30 visa deal it wasn't too bad. Get it for $10 less than the plain version. Now, with the $30 visa deal, comes to $29.99 . Cool stuff.

Best deal I have gotten so far has been on those dual Forza 2 and Marvel Alliance packs. I picked up a new one for $4.99 . The video store I buy games from was suprised it was sitting there for that price still, and they have the full on game of forza motorsport 2 (as I undrestand it, same as whats in the dual pack, just not the extra case) for $29.99.

Thankfully I got my order in before going to class... although I already own Halo 3, this deal was too sweet to pass up.

Note: According to my order status page, it says this item will arrive AFTER Christmas day, which is a bummer to anybody who was planning to use it as a present.

I have a X360. I don't have Halo 3 yet. So I bought that deal. Might as well if it's at the same price of just the game, no? I think asking for double the price of the game's going rate for the helmet and "Making of" DVD is a bit crazy but this deal suited me just fine.
