^^jorojoserojas : Good point, BUT what if the majority of people buying the Wii are not the type of people that will buy a AAA title? It is a poor assumption on your part or mine, to think that either A: video game enthusiasts are buying the Wii, along with Xbox360 and want the Wii for AAA titles or B: the general populace is buying the Wii for a social party gig and will play it once in a while or for their young kids who can care less about AAA titles.

True, true. I know of two people who've yet to touch anything other than Wii Sports, and that's a crying shame.

On the other hand, I would figure that the people who were there, in line, waiting on launch day (like myself) were those who knew what they were getting into; a console that plays Nintendo games.

I'm just a bit bitter about 3rd party support. Hopefully, things will turn around a bit. But hey, if they stick to the 360 and PS3, that's fine - I got them, too.

Whoa, the Nintendo juggernaut can't be stopped...I do wonder how the other consoles did.

But remember guys, this is a fad. So when the Wii dies seven years from now, the ps3 will finally be able to reign supreme.

Hahahaha

I forgot about the "Wii is a fad" fallacy the SDF and co brought up about a year ago.

"just wait till after xmas!"
"just wait for the summer drought!"
"just wait for an xmas with a cheaper PS3!"

Coupled with them "just wait for Lair and Heavenly Sword!". I don't want to wait I want to play killer games. Orange Box and Galaxy beckon again.

Yeah, but in my apartment, and probably many other's homes too, the Wii /has/ been a fad. Not a regrettable purchase or anything, I play Wii Sports on it when people come over... But in my case, I think Rock Band will be a serious contender to take Wii's 'party dominance' now, for anyone over 10.

Wii is great. But that thing ain't handling Rock Band, CoD4, Splinter Cell online, Halo, Rainbow 6, GRAW2... DVDs... anything involving HD or a hard-drive... The online is the worst on the Wii and that's how I play now mostly.

Oh well, I guess I suck.

Noshino > about making numbers, where did yours come from?

Metacritic (http://www.metacritic.com/games/wii/scores/) shows 25 Wii games with average review scores over 74.

25 is obviously a lot more than the 14 you have showing. Perhaps your numbers are out of date?

That said, I think comparing on review scores is pointless where the Wii is concerned. Wii Sports got a 76, and frankly it is one of the most fun games ever released. Reviewers are really struggling to score same console multiplayer games, in my estimation. At least at my house we score them a lot higher than the reviewers do. Of course we play together, something which reviewers do very little of.

mmm...Russell, I think you haven't quite read the data I posted, because it clearly states 80+, 74-, and 49- and not 74+....I used those scores because we were talking about quality games and shovelware, 75-79 are the average games, so neither considered shovelware nor quality.

Please, before accusing me of something, double check...

and reviewers are just doing their job, and its their opinion, not ours, that goes to the media, hey, the reviews for SMG are high, yet I didn't find it worth of such score, hell, I think Ouendan should have scored higher than what it got...

Guess I missed that, but it still doesn't make sense to me. You are saying you ignored games with scores between 75-79 because they are average? And at 74 and below games become below average? But you agree with me that review scores don't matter? I thought you were arguing whether or not there were good games on the Wii and proving there weren't with review scores?

I think there is a lot said there that might be more conjecture than truth. The numbers you have used were chosen to paint a specific picture, including some arbitrary cut-offs on scores. While it's a valid and common usage of statistics to pick and choose to tell a story, I would call out the story as not true. Especially as noted, if Wii Sports fits into the 'Average' category and isn't even considered by the calculation. Based on public response to the game, it's hard to make a statement of quality based on the 76 or 'average' review score.

EVERY time I see that picture, I just start laughing. That is most likely one of the best pictures I have seen headlining a post on here. Good job to it's creator

I bought all three of the damn systems and I love them all! My 360 collected dust for a year till GoW came out, and my Wii was dusty like a month or so till MP3 and SMG came out. And I have actually been having alot of fun with the ps3 lately im starting to like it alot more than my 360 i have to say! Does that make me dirty? lol Anyway im glad Nintendo is back doing well again its been a long ass time.

I'm still waiting for people to wake up and smell what Nintendo is shoveling. NOTHING. The Wii shortage is artificial. Nintendo is making demand for the system by keeping supplies low. If everyone that wants one gets one, like GameCube, people will realize very fast how little there is the play on Wii once they've had it after two months.

I see the Wii as a family board game using the Wiimote to roll the dice. Board games run $10 or more. Wii is quite expensive at $250.

Who said "capitalist" and "asshole" are mutually exclusive? :P On the contrary.
