http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?video=601245921&play=1

(you have to watch the video in internet Explorer)

Watch the Part about the "overwhelming positive feedback" to Halo 3

It seems as if not everyone is happy with the ongoing hardware issues

Yes I get it, sending in your 360 for the 3rd time is "tolerable" around here but on a larger scale, you know beyond the internet and in the real world may not be so "tolerable"

And I am sorry, I know how you people feel about the 360 and I am perfectly aware that I risk getting blurred out or even banned (wouldn't be joystiq without those risks)....I am sure that I am going to get flamed, thats a given for whenever you mention 360 flaws around here

My point, well my point is that Both Microsoft and Sony are screwing us over, I am aware of it, and I am sorry most of you people can't, even with the almost regularly reports on 360 hardware issues'

what sets this guy apart from most of you is that he isn't willing to just hop on the phone for the thousandth time with yet another 360 issue, that he is done turning the other cheek

I personally believe we should back up our fellow gamers, (that is why I refuse to tolerate RROD) not take up for the multi-billion dollar cooperation (that is why most of you tolerate the RROD)

and yes I am aware the 360 have great games, so please stop using that for ever defense, "my 360 exploded yesterday but I accept it because the games pwn (har dee har har)"

The games aren't my excuse. We have 2 360's in the house right now, and neither have ever had an RROD, so why the hell should I be pissed at MS? Heck, Halo 3 has never caused a problem for us either.

You want me (and others) to jump on a bandwagon that I have no reason to agree with.

Well, I almost agree with you. Once my system went down for the fifth time, 3 more repairs than lemon laws start to kick in one other products, I decided to test then sell my freshly refurbished system. I'll reinvest after the holidays and we see more long term reports from the Arcade's performance (I sold the system, not my games or hard drive).

I completely agree. I have never had any electronic equipment fail on me in less than year, especially when I don't use it that often. now i've been reading that there is a good change that my "replacement" system will die too.

WTF!

Big deal they extended the warranty to 3 years. I bet most owners aren't aware...they probably figured it died and just threw their system out.I can't beleive people are tolerating these problems.

I don't care if the xbox has games...what good is it if i can't play the games?

My launch system hasn't got the RROD yet, but everytime I put a new game in I get a little scared because of all these reports.

I'm surprised any of the consoles I have owned have crapped out on me. My PS2 has kept working after 5 years of on and off use. Got it after the first price cut in 2002 and it still works fine. I'm waiting until Summer '08 before getting a PS3. Hopefully Sony has backwards compatibility solved for the 40 gig model by then.

This reminds me of an Ann Landers letter a few years ago... Some new law student wanted to sue his parents because... (get ready for this)...

This wonderful student was single but had a married sister who had kids. Since the parents were buying these kids presents (b-day, xmas etc), this student thought that they were spending more money on her than him and it was his 'money' (inheritance in future). It was being spent without his approval so he was going to sue for monetary damages even though it was the parents money.

And he probably will die alone... what a loser... IMHO...

sees ya...

Let's see -- 5 million units sold and counting and this is the first anyone has heard of these supposedly "widespread" issues? As a stockholder of Microsoft I applaud the willingness to settle suits like this to make them go away and save court costs, but for this one, I hope they squish him like a bug.

This is old news. Read this a week or two ago elsehwere.

It's a nuisance suit.

Microsoft has made reasonable efforts to remedy problems.

It doesn't mention what course of action, if any, this person persued after his initial problem other than the attempted formation of a class action suit.

The complaint doesn't mention that this is one the most popular games, and widely played every day.

But I think the reason for the suit is because it's one of the most widely sold games, and someone sees an opportunity to perhaps make money.

This lawsuit is due to bad disc of all copies of Halo 3. I know myself experienced these problems repeatedly and finally had to use my brother's 360 to play the coop campaign. The problem is thought to lie in memory transfer from the hd to the 360. There are forum posts on xbox.com and bungie.net that are over 100 pages in length on people going through extremes to find an answer to why their's won't work. This issue only occurred for me when I tried to play online coop. I knew of at least 3 of my buddies that I play with who had the same thing happen in different parts only with online coop. Others are experiencing the opposite where their online play doesnt work but they can play online coop with their buddies. Hope this helps clear some things up with this lawsuit.

Wouldn't the problem have to be widespread for this to be a class-action lawsuit? Both myself and all my buddies who play have never had Halo lock-up or freeze.

While I thought Halo 3 was a crappy example of a shooter (any game tha tries to hold itself up on a barebones online component and slacks off on single player is crappy), the problems never once involved technical issues. This guy = uninformed.

OK guys I really don't understand. Why is everyone giving this guy a hard time. You obviously haven't experienced what he was referring to. I purchased the "standard edition" of Halo 3 the night it dropped. For some reason the game wouldn't play (there wasn't a single scratch on my disc) so I took it back for a new one. The new disc wouldn't work either. It would give me a disc read error just like the first disc. I bought another 360 and sure enough the game worked on that console with absolutely no problem. I know that it has to be something within the console that reacts poorly with Halo 3; because Halo 3 was the only game that has ever given me any problems. I didn't think the game was all that great any way so I ended up trading it in for COD4 and getting my money back for the new 360. I'd join the class action lawsuit because it's unfair for someone to invest in a $400 piece of equipment that doesn't even work with everything that it is supposed to work with. I think he's justified but if it never happened to you, you wouldn't understand. If you do a little research you'll see that it's happening more than you think to people all over the world.

I had to have my Dvd Drive replaced in order to play halo. Myself and probably hundreds more. The crappy part is many had to pay for the service. Now I know you guys find it hard to believe but there was a forum on xbox.com with over a hundred signatures, we all had the same problem. Microsoft got wind of the blog and made it dissappear.

I for one hope that they win. Microsoft just swept the problem under the rug. I had to wait for my xbox to come back, another month gone and now I am on my third xbox.

Why do you people defend microsoft?

I love playing my xbox, I do but I hate microsoft. There customer service is terrible. Also all of the millions of people who had the rrod, guess what, all of the money you spent for arcade games is thrown out the window. Sure the games will still work on your replacement xbox but only if you are online. I have spent over a hundred bucks on xbox arcade games but now if I take my xbox over to a friends house and it is not online we can not play any of them. I call xbox and complain and they give me the runaround, Hours and Hours wasted trying to get the points back so I could repurchase the games. I finally gave up. They made promises and did not do anything about them.

This is about as stupid a lawsuit as the guy that sued his dry cleaners for 15 Million (or whaterver the ridiculous # was) in Washington, DC.

Why don't these ambulance chaser lawyers do something better with their time??
