PSP-exclusive Wild Arms XF confirmed for US
As one of maybe six people who seem to derive enjoyment from Sony and Media Vision's RPG series Wild Arms, I was was understandably pleased with news of publisher XSEED's intent to bring the new PSP-exclusive Wild Arms XF, or Crossfire, to North America next spring, even if those around me could care less.
This latest jaunt through the Wild West-themed world of Filgaia will mark a return to the hex-based combat system used in by the previous two games in the franchise. While few other details have been revealed about the game, it's interesting to note that the Japanese version of the title supports linking between it and Wild Arms 5 for the PS2, unlocking new items and boss battles across both titles, giving the handful of us who appreciate the series another reason not to pack away our aging PS2s just yet.

You aren't the only fan of Wild Arms...
The theme music alone is worth the price of admission.

I enjoyed Wild Arms 4, but other games took my attention.
frozengod @ Nov 30th 2007 11:14AM
Ah, I still have fond memories from the first iteration.
So, where are the other 3 fans?
frozengod @ Nov 30th 2007 11:15AM
Correcting, 4 already found.
dark_inchworm @ Nov 30th 2007 11:15AM
COULDN'T care less :P

No slight to the Wild Arms fans out there.. but it saddens me that every single game in this series gets released here and we've gotten only about half of the Tales games in English. Yeah, yeah.. I know it's solely Namco's fault for refusing license to other publishers (and refusing to localize games because they're 2D).. but still..

Tales... ahh... memories...
I love the Tales series, altough, there are a lot of Tales games in Japan not released here un USA =(
Fernando Rocker @ Nov 30th 2007 11:25AM
Is Tales of Innocence going to be released here in America??
Princess Skittles @ Nov 30th 2007 11:40AM
I hope so. If not, I'll import it as I have all other Tales games that have escaped the English language. Graphically, it looks like the best looking DS game yet.
FOXHOUND @ Nov 30th 2007 11:27AM
Admittedly, the WILD ARMS series has always seemed to escape my attention, which is sad - because I've heard good things about it. If the initial details about are any indicator of the game as a whole, I'll definitely add it to the list of must-buy games for my PSP.
...Has there ever been any kind of WILD ARMS collection released in North America, for any console/handheld?
FidliousWong @ Nov 30th 2007 11:33AM
No collections... but here's the official list of Wild Arms games released in the US.
Wild Arms
Wild Arms 2
Wild Arms 3
Wild Arms 4 (introduction of Hex system)
Wild Arms Alter Code F (remix of first one)
Wild Arms 5
From the one's I've had the time to play (I have all in my collection), I always liked the whole three characters meet beginning followed by learnign their building up stories.
FOXHOUND @ Nov 30th 2007 11:36AM
+1
Much thanks for the info. :] I'll start asking/checking around for those titles soon.

I am also one of those six!
While the original Wild Arms will always be my favorite, the series is still great (except for Alter Code-F which was terrible in every way). This is good news for me.
Nguyen @ Nov 30th 2007 4:35PM
Whaat! I liked Alter Code F... It was a pain in the ass to level up until I found out about those lil' sea monsters that have like millions of XP, but it was fun to see the original in true 3D...
John Z @ Nov 30th 2007 11:46AM
Well, then, I must not exist if there's only six.
News of tactical Wild ARMs goodness made me happy this morning, despite all the other crap happening.
darkeyez @ Nov 30th 2007 12:07PM
What?! 6? There's a lot more fans than that. I say there's at least 10...
Anyway, I only ever played the first game which is easily THE BEST RPG I've ever played...well, no, Chrono Trigger is, but still it's THE 2ND BEST RPG I've ever played...well...maybe the 3rd...Link To The Past being 2nd...
Dammit, I like the game, okay?
Fernando Rocker @ Nov 30th 2007 12:12PM
A Link to the Past is an Adventure game.
FidliousWong @ Nov 30th 2007 2:12PM
Zelda is an RPG anytime someone talks about lack of RPGs on a Nintendo system. So it's an RPG.
fyreblazer @ Nov 30th 2007 2:16PM
I'll only get this game if the commercials for it used the old Crossfire board game theme music.
Crossfire....CROSSFIYAHHHHHHH
