Sony hires Deutsch for Playstation advertising
Agency Spy reports that Sony Computer Entertainment of America has already decided upon a successor for the American Playstation advertising account. The Los Angeles-based agency Deutsch, Inc. will reportedly be taking over the $150 million account, following Sony's decision to remove TBWA -- their ad firm of the last 13 years -- from the account's review.
Deutsch, one of the five finalists in the review of the Playstation account, is an award-winning ad agency first established in 1969. Currently helmed by chairman Donny Deutsch (pictured above) and CEO Linda Sawyer, Deutsch's clients include the likes of Ikea, Snapple, Johnson & Johnson, and Verizon. The agency's acquisition of the lucrative Playstation account has not yet been made official; we have e-mails in to Sony and Deutsch, and are currently awaiting confirmation.
Update: A representative from Deutsch, Inc. has confirmed that the agency has in fact been awarded the Playstation account. Now we'll just have to see what they plan on doing with it.

Scott: You used "Lucrative" and "Playstation" in the same sentence!
Fernando Rocker @ Nov 30th 2007 10:12AM
Its because a typo error... he forgot to put the word "no" in between.
TheGuy @ Nov 30th 2007 10:22AM
@Fernando
And you made a typo too.
It's because "of" a typing error...

ark_v2 @ Nov 30th 2007 11:49AM
Did you mean "Is it?"
mega_dranix @ Nov 30th 2007 10:15AM
Its about time Sony did something about their marketing. The "This is Living" ads are... well... very unsatisfactory.

It's better like this:
Sony hires Douche for Playstation advertising
Agency Spy reports that Sony Computer Entertainment of America has already decided upon a successor for the American Playstation advertising account. The Los Angeles-based agency Douche, Inc. will reportedly be taking over the $150 million account, following Sony's decision to remove TBWA -- their ad firm of the last 13 years -- from the account's review.
Douche, one of the five finalists in the review of the Playstation account, is an award-winning ad agency first established in 1969. Currently helmed by chairman Donny Douche (pictured above) and CEO Linda Sawyer, Douche's clients include the likes of Ikea, Snapple, Johnson & Johnson, and Verizon. The agency's acquisition of the lucrative Playstation account has not yet been made official; we have e-mails in to Sony and Deutsch, and are currently awaiting confirmation.

you said what we were all thinking, and took it far into the realm of "not funny anymore"
Umeadi @ Nov 30th 2007 10:30AM
lol...Douche
Nekretaal @ Nov 30th 2007 10:34AM
I am glad that they sacked the old agency. The Playstation 3 hype was handled badly last year. The ads for playstation 3 got bizarre, and the the street graffi ads for PSP were obnoxiuos, ugly, and offensive. Donny Deutche is a Douche, but it'll be hard to be worse than what the old companies were doing towards the end.
1up_clock @ Nov 30th 2007 10:36AM
Y'know, there's a lot of words to describe the Playstation brand, and "lucrative" is not one of them right now.
Shagittarius @ Nov 30th 2007 11:21AM
I have a lot of words to describe Nintendo Fanboys too.
Kamall @ Nov 30th 2007 11:36AM
It used to be lucrative, and there's reason its not now, because of the many mistakes Sony made, I still hope they can get back on their feet like how Nintendo suffered with the N64 and their arrogant mistakes and got back up eventually with a bang!
LilCo187 @ Nov 30th 2007 1:42PM
Hey Shagittarius,
I got alot of words to describe your mom.
colin @ Nov 30th 2007 9:22PM
let's get off mom's ... ok?
because i just got off yours.
prateeko @ Nov 30th 2007 11:19AM
Really, you wouldn't describe $150 Million as lucrative?
carg0 @ Nov 30th 2007 11:52AM
wow, nice tan ya' got there Capt. Orange
Alienhead @ Nov 30th 2007 11:55AM
This is the same douchbag that jump all over video games incite violence. Fuck him. The fucking hypocrite.
placbo @ Nov 30th 2007 12:26PM
You could even say that he's a "Deutschbag".
Alienhead @ Nov 30th 2007 12:04PM
Somebody on this site should interview him. Find out why its different when he's getting paid by the videogame industry.
Fadobo @ Nov 30th 2007 1:21PM
Did you know Deutsch means german in...well, german? Thought it has something to do with it but Donny Deutsch is also hilarious. Its like Amy America :D
Pixelantes Anonymous @ Nov 30th 2007 1:51PM
Yea. Seems like Sony went from bad to worse. Donny "Douchebag" Deutsch seems to like video games a lot:

So, Donny, what's it like to pimp yourself to the highest bidder no matter how much you hate what they do?
mccomber @ Nov 30th 2007 1:52PM
Well, looking through their site it seems like they've done a lot of work that's really... safe. I didn't see anything that either offended or excited me, or even made me say wtf? like the This is Living ads did. 10th largest agency in the US though, so they must be doing something right.
Here's hoping that the first thing they do is contract Superfad to continue doing work on Sony's ads, the Universe of Entertainment stuff was great.
Iridium @ Nov 30th 2007 2:47PM
Why would Sony pick the Douche. Honestly who is making the decisions at Sony. If you ever watch the Big Idea you see how completely clueless the man is.
Maybe he'll get his pal Donald Trump to appear in PS3 ads. The Donald says PS3 rocks, Xbox 360 you're fired.
Great now you get to have Sony ads like Snapple and Verizon. Oh god I can just see "Sony PS3 can you see it now" coming.
drun @ Nov 30th 2007 8:10PM
They will say PS3 is good for your skin and makes a nice fit furniture.
