With 3:16 left in the above video you can see two tabs labeled...Xbox Marketing And Partner Marketing.

What's up with that?

I'm hoping there are some "hidden" features like the re-registration of new consoles to restore the ability to play XBLA games offline. Going on my 2nd full month of dealing with customer service and the BBB to reach a resolution regarding that issue...

Seriously. There's a new software platform out there for Extenders that supports Divx, the 360 supports Divx, why can't the 360 support divx in MCE mode?

With the divx/xvid changes, will this mean the 360 can play those back if I have a DVD (or USB flash drive) containing divx files? I'd imagine it should work.

For 2008 please to be adding matroska container support for those MKV x/h264 files.

http://blogs.msdn.com/xboxteam/ answers that question. It will support streaming or plugging in a usb drive/hard drive of divx/xvid files.

so wait...will i be able to stream .avi files from my computer to my 360 now (not sure if avi is a divx format)?

Avi is a "container" for various codecs. Mpeg4 being the most popular one. It can also take h264 in the AVI container as well.

"Added support to not write trial-version Arcade games to user's played games history (this is only for newly downloaded games after the Dec'07 update is released)
"

WTF. So those 10 arcade games from launch day I still have on my gamercard wont be going away? What a HUGE letdown. All this new update means then is I can paly aracde demos on my gamertag after dec 4th rather then on the silver gamertag i have been using for years. Still wont get rid of those ugly arcade games on my gamertag or the hundreds on some friends gamertags which makes sorting through their played games list a task and a half. :(

Sounds like MS already needs an update for their update.

I have a good question that needs to be answered....

Will the DivX codec support apply to DivX DVDs as well or just only through streaming?

you mean if you burn a few Divx files to a DVD-R and pop it in the 360? I sure hope so. I don't see why not.

The only thing I saw was DivX and that's all I really care about. The rest of the update is simply fodder in my eyes.

I hope, with the new codec support, that we'll soon see some sort of audio/video podcast support as well. It would be real nice to have my "shows" downloaded to my 360 so I can watch them without having to use Media Center Extender or a PC hooked up to my TV.

I guess RSS news feeds wouldn't be so bad either (since it's the same thing as a podcast feed, really).

Sweet, now I don't have to spend $40 on that Divx dvd player I've been itching to buy.

Rubbish. If most users aren't using more than 30 or whatever, then there's absolutely no reason it can't be increased!

So what happened to the ability to remove arcade demos from your Games Played List that was reported in the Japanese version of the update? That would be one of the more appealing parts of the update along with DivX support and better Guide performance.

Yeah man, playing videos on your Xbox instead of PC is obviously one of the most-requested features. Never mind group voice chat, we need real names and friends of friends lists!

Other minor things that I like but received no mention:
* Video playback shortcuts - usability FTW!
LB/RB to skip chapters
LT/RT to rewind/forward (hope it's analog and not multi-press)
Start button to instantly play (makes things a bit easier, at least until we get an actual video playlist)

* support for AC3 embedded audio

* Improved Xbox guide performance ~2x

Spring 2008 update wishlist:
* Matroska support with multiple audio and subtitle selection
* video playlist
* video playback shortcuts require a button held down (because it's too easy to accidentally FF/REW)
