Guitar Hero II gets DLC: Indie Label Pack II
29
No, that's not a typo -- there really is new downloadable content for Guitar Hero II. The "Indie Label Pack II", which retails for 500 MS Points, includes such non-chart-toppers as "You Should Be Ashamed of Myself" by The Bled, "Memories of the Grove" by Maylene and The Sons of Disaster and "The State of Massachusetts" by Dropkick Murphys.
You may be wondering why new tracks are coming out for Guitar Hero II, and not it's younger, fresher brother. Well, it's easy to forget that while Guitar Hero II and Guitar Hero III are technically part of the same series, they belong to two very different developers. We imagine Harmonix is trying to sweeten the deal for those who haven't decided which iteration of the game to pick up for the holiday shopping season.
We're just glad these tracks didn't come to Rock Band -- if your roommate's drunken, warbling impression of Dropkick Murphys frontman Alex Barr doesn't get you kicked out of your apartment, we don't know what will.

I only really liked Do or Die and Gang's All Here... the rest didn't really do anything for me.

hell ya, but i don't wanna buy this pack for just one song tho :(
Mike, do or die is prob my fav. of their cd's but they can't make a bad cd. (listen to street dogs, Mike McColgan's "newer" band, if you only like the old stuff. I personally welcomed the very Oi! al barr)
sorry for ranting, DKM's my favorite band.

Shipping up to Boston, or Barroom Hero.

Unfortunately switching from Guitar Hero 3 and 2 is a bit disorientating for me, which I guess should be a given with the different dev teams. I do miss being able to switch from 1 and 2 without missing a beat.

Probably because of GH3's bigger timing windows.

No, probably because GH1+GH2 have good notecharts.

So why not release the indie music tracks for Rock Band instead of GHII?

they probably had some content ready for release but with rock band's dlc schdule pretty full just put it out for gh2 beforehand
it could have been planned a long time ago but just released now that harmonix had a few days after the crunch to finish rock band

i skipped gh2 and bought gh3 to much satisfaction for 360. i then saw they sold ghII disk by itself, so i bought the disk alone for the songs. 160 tax free dollars well spent.

Yes, Flogging Molly is awesome, but I think would not be the best match for GH. Most of their guitar parts are acoustic or on a twelve string, which don't work as well with GH. Also much of their songs depends on strings and flutes and other instruments.
Aside from that, I was totally "meh" until I saw Dropkick Murphys on there. I'll probably get this whenever I take enough time away from Rock Band to go back to GHII.

Dropkick Murphys are awesome and Al Barr is a great singer.
Although, DKM is neither an indie band nor on an indie label so god knows why they're in this pack.
