Roll your own ugly Wii Zapper using LEGOs

Too cheap to invest in the official Wii Zapper? White plastic not your thing? Tired of sexy curves and long for the pointy edges of the NES days? NeoGAF user Mrklaw's got your back, with a self-made gun housing for the Wii Remote.

It sure ain't pretty, but it is practical; the trigger actually depresses the B button, just like the official Zapper. It looks like it might be a bit unruly to hold, but who are we to judge? Special props go to Mrklaw for not even trying to use consistent colors in his design, instead opting for that cacophony of bright-colored plastic that just screams "LEGO." Kudos.

LEGO INC prefers to call them LEGO block(s). And the little people LEGO Mini-Figures.

Yeah, they kind of get super pissed at people calling them Legos.

Well, that actually makes me wanna make my own, not out of lego though.

The sad thing is that the Wii Zapper is probably cheaper to buy than the individual bricks. When did Legos get so damned expensive?!

Then I fully support the war effort if it means being able to buy the Lego Slave I for less than $80.

I want somebody to make a Nerf Longshot-Zapper Mod...that would be a great way to get that "real sniper" feel in a game...

Well, it's still more aesthetically pleasing than the official Zapper. Bleh.

A little color-coordination couldn't hurt though.

Hey, not bad for a LEGO substitute. Although the hand grip could use more reinforcement as it looks like it would snap off at the slightest provocation.

That said, I wonder where my LEGO and K'nex collections went...?

I could probably mass produce these things with all the LEGOs I have.

That's pretty sweet! I would just spray paint the bricks white so it macthes the wii mote's color. :)

That is a genuinely good question! I must now scour the internets for intructions on building a LEGO WCC.

And does anyone really want that Zapper? Even with the Link game, it seems like a tremendous waste of $20-25 (depending on where you buy it.)
