The 21 days of Wii from Circuit City
Still need a Wii? Want an infinitesimal chance of winning one? Well, do we have the deal for you! Between now and Dec. 22, CircuitCity.com will be giving a Wii away (away a Wii?) every day. All you have to do is give it your email address (and be a US citizen, but now we're just being picky). Although the insta-enter by giving your virtual address seems so effortless, one can only wonder what evil plans the corporation has for your email next -- because isn't there always an evil plan with these things?
While we're talking about Circuit City, it currently has several deals on games going on. Call of Duty 4 is $39, along with Tony Hawk's Proving Ground. For those just getting their next-gen on, CC also has $22 deals on Oblivion, Dead Rising, and Fight Night Round 3. So if you can't win a Wii, you can at least take advantage of some fine holiday discounts.

free stuff rules!

The Wii demand on the States is incredible. On most European countries it's easily available since day 0.
For some unknown reason we also get games 3 months later so go figure...

I HATE CIRCUIT CITY!!!!!!!!!
FUCK THEM AND THERE SO CALLED DEALS!!!!!
YOUR LUCKY TO FIND THE SALE ITEM YOU WANT BECAUSE THEY ONLY STOCK LIKE 3 OF THEIR SALE ITEMS PER STORE!!!!!!
SHITTY SERVICE!!!!!!
I HATE THEM!!!!!
Sorry for the rant i'm still pissed after the last few unsuccessful trips there. Especially black friday.

I'm right there with you.
I was looking at a digital camera online once and the website said they had some in stock at my local Circuit City.
So I get in my car and drive there, ask the guy about the specific camera and he goes off to the back.
About forever later he comes back and tells me they don't have any.
I just left because my previous trips have always left me empty handed.
I only shop at Best Buy and Target now.
k04sm02 @ Dec 3rd 2007 10:25PM
its circuit city's fault that 2000 people line up outside the store at 4 AM and you dont get the 300 dollar laptop, of which there are probably 20?
sounds like your fault, not CC's.
Granted, I hate the company, but people like you are the ones that blame us (the underpaid, annoyed floor associates) for not throwing in anything "extra" when you buy an at-cost laptop.
Go take your business to Best Buy, we don't care.
Nick Ritch @ Dec 3rd 2007 11:06PM
I'm sorry that you and all your fellow employees are trained to suck at customer service.
I expect employees to be scarce on busy days like black friday. But there is never anyone around to ring anyone up, much less to help find a specific Item.
Why must I get in a line 10 deep at customer service on a tuesday in the middle of the day because there is no one to ring you. It's just shitty and not very customer friendly.
k04sm02 @ Dec 3rd 2007 11:15PM
I fail to see how customer service training has anything to do with the number of employees we have to ring people up?
The problem lies in the switch from commission-based pay, where any of the older stores have dedicated kiosks spread out throughout the store for transactions. They were like that so whoever made the sale would make sure to get credit for it.
It's impractical now, given that the floor associates are on hourly wages and there's no dedicated checkout up front. Even though we have a big sign up from that says Checkout, we get 100 people a day asking where they can checkout.
Don't generalize about customer service when I personally haven't taken you for "the journey." ;-)
Nick Ritch @ Dec 3rd 2007 8:11PM
I haven't figured out why I keep trying.
Oh yeah, it's cuz i'm a cheap ass gamer.
gonk @ Dec 3rd 2007 9:00PM
how much gas have you used driving to circuit city recently?
not every cost is on the sticker
Nick Ritch @ Dec 3rd 2007 10:19PM
Its only about 2 miles further than my local best buy.
sicsided @ Dec 3rd 2007 9:12PM
we received 260 wii's two days ago at my work. I never want to see that again. We sold all of them by 10:30 that day.

I saw that. It's amazing that stores can sell them to eBay directly now. ;)
sicsided @ Dec 3rd 2007 11:41PM
ebay? I work at a target (sadly). But yes if you mean that they are basically going on ebay, yeah I'm sure most were.
ill trooper @ Dec 3rd 2007 9:53PM
$22 Dead Rising? I might stop by there tomorrow. I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up though... Seems like from the comments here, they tend to have deals on items to get you in the door, only to disappoint you by telling you that they sold out hours or days earlier...
hdhrant @ Dec 3rd 2007 11:17PM
Yeah, you'd have to be a real sucker to go to a website and enter your email address for an infinitesimal chance at winning an admittedly awesome prize... ooh, $5k gaming rig!
Justin Vigil @ Dec 4th 2007 9:46AM
WII WII WII WII WII WII WII ALL WANT ONE..... :)

Wait:
ELIGIBILITY: Sweepstakes is open to all U.S. Citizens that are legal residents of the United States
Do they really mean you have to be a resident Citizen, or either a resident Citizen or Legal Resident?
I'm a Brit living in the US, so I'm a Legal Resident, but not a Citizen. Also, how could a US Citizen be an illegal resident?
I think Circuit City should check their legal team's credentials, I think it says Havard on their "diploma".
I wanna free Wii!
