BioShock gets update and new plasmid DLC

Hey, hey! The BioShock update and downloadable content that was announced a few days back has just been released early this morning making your Rapture experience all the better. BioShock's Cult of Rapture outlined what's included in the title update which includes a widescreen FOV fix, various bug squashes and a solution to the nasty caching problem. They also confirmed that the free DLC includes a disable Vita Chambers option, a 100 point "Brass Balls" achievement and four brand new plasmids (Machine Buster 1 & 2, Vending Expert 1 & 2, Sonic Boom 1 & 2 and EVE Saver). Pop in BioShock, get your update, download the DLC and re-visit Rapture with your new sonic booming abilities. Boom, boom!

lol, i just submitted this tip and refreshed and saw this...

anyone know if you need to play the game on hard with vita chambers off? if not,, it could be rather easy.

you might want to fix the post, from what I understand, Machine Buster, Vending Expert and Eve Saver are all TONICS. there's only 1 single new plasmid, being sonic boom.

I'm hoping that they're still coming out with another 150 points (and something that truly adds replayability) to bump it up to 1250/1250.

Lame, lazy, and way too late. With all that has been released in the past 2 months , more plasmids and 1 achivement are not enough to get people to pick this back up again. Especially after reading about how nobody really wanted just more plasmids!! This might have made more sense after it just realeased and was still hot. Sorry you going to have to try harder than this to get poeple to forget about mass effect , COD4 , ETC (insert game here) .

WAY too late. The game's been out for how long? More than 3 months...

Not that I played Bioshock, but I believe everyone else has just MOVED ON to better games. Whether that is AC, ME, COD4 or H3...

I gotta agree. the plasmids sounds really boring, and so is the achievement.

I for one wanted to go back through and get all the tonics and tapes but after playing the story 4-5 times it does get repetitive. This however will mix it up enough and become challenging to make me go though it 1 more time. Plus its free so why complain?

I think you need to stop whining about title updates and FREE DLC. Here we have a company that goes and updates a title fixing many of the things people wanted fixed and even adding some replayability and you complain? I think you should look at all the games that come out with TONS more bugs and glitches and are ignored as they have already sold the game to you and only care about the bottom dollar. I applaud them for this update and WILL be revisiting rapture along with playing COD4, Mass Effect, etc.

You're so right. Its so so late. I mean, if they released it shortly after the retail release, I'd be complaining they clearly left it out it to punish those without Xbox Live.

Sheesh. Its free content. And my copy of Bioshock doesn't self destruct if I don't use the content this week. Maybe yours does.

Good reason to replay he old Bioshock. That new achievement will be a blast to get.....

I wanted to go back and play through... this gives me a great reason.

I'm not half way through the game (my 360 was rrod when this was released), then Halo 3 came... and then GH 3, then Rock Band, then COD 4, then Mass Effect... but atleast I can finish this with some extra incentive?

Hopefully they've fixed the major flaw in the game which was the fact that the vita chambers made the game stupidly simple. Turning them off however may make the game stupidly hard.

At least the tried to improve what I feel was an average game, given the wealth of options that have come out since then.

Wouldn't you just revert to saving all the time? Playing without the chambers would just make it take longer, not make it harder.

The only change is that when you used to Vita-Chamber, the Big Daddies and enemies were damaged. Having to reload, they're 100% healthy again.

Trouble is timing. You either have to get stuff like this up while a game is still "hot" or release stuff like this during a lull like early Summer and hope people haven't yet traded the game in or sold it.

I guess this period sort of qualifies as a lull. I've finished everything out now and most of the kids out there won't have anything new to play until Christmas.

Yeah, okay, I'll official call December a dead month. Even January qualifies. What is there until February? Nothing.

COD multiplayer and collecting gold stars in GH for 2 months.

WRONG. You release content when the game's cooling off to reinvigorate interest. It's business 101.

I will be downloading this free content. I havent gone through the game on hard yet so this will make me want to play it again. But it's gonna have to wait til I finish Mass Effect.

Wooohoooh! Finally a BioShock Update correcting the FOV. Has anybody tried it out already? How's it running? Is the framerate as smooth as before? Took them a looooong time to fix it ... why?

It might be late, but it is free, and it is certainly better than decontenting a game and then trying to rip off your customers right away like Halo.

It never ceases to amaze me how people here complain about every single little thing. I for one am happy for this update as I'm still playing and there are many more that have not yet even played this game.

But I expect nothing less from the Me Only But Make it Good and Free generation that seems to permeate the gaming culture.

Personally, I was waiting until just about now to go do my replay of Bioshock, and this extra content is the icing on the cake. No... wait. That was another game that had cake.

I'll definitely download it, no idea when I'll get around to playing it though.. it'll probably be a while.

Why is everyone complaining? I'm happy they worked on this title and fixed bugs. It's free too.

Good thing I had so many games on my "to play" list. I get to play BioShock for the first time with out glitches and new plasmid/tonics!

For those that are bitchin' - Its fucking free DLC and that's NEVER a bad thing.

What is this nonsense it is telling me about having to be a Gold member to download it!

Brass Balls!!! I've got 'em! To get the achievement you don't have to turn the vita chambers off. All you have to do is beat the game on hard without using them. I have been trying to figure out what the 51st achievement was for weeks nows. I beat the game on hard without dying about a week ago. After I downloaded the update, I just loaded my game to the begining of the fight with Fontaine. After I beat him I got the achievement. Check out my gamer tag whitelightnin92 and see for yourself.
