Bruckheimer might change Prince of Persia time period
Jerry Bruckheimer spilled a little bit to Collider.com about the upcoming Prince of Persia film that he hopes to start filming in June. Though it seems to still be in the pretty early stages, Bruckheimer says he sees a lot of possibilities for the franchise. One of the things still in flux, he says, is exactly what time period the film will be set in. Though he says it's not going to be in modern day, he won't rule anything else out.So, let's recap what we know so far: Director Mike Newell isn't playing the game and isn't making a 'videogame movie.' Meanwhile, the movie could be set in any period since the beginning of time. Does anybody else smell a hit? And why do hits smell like diapers?

If you're not going to bother playing the game or set it in the appropriate time period why bother even making it?!
Just make another movie with similar style, call it something else, and show some respect to the developers and writers behind this franchise!

The Prince of Persia (newer ones) games are some of the best ever made primarily due to an awesome storyline and game mechanics. The older ones are awesome too by the way.
You can take a good storyline and make it into a movie. However, taking a game mechanic, albeit a pretty mechanic (time manipulation, and turning it into a special effect may seem cliche. I can read the reviews now:
'Prince of Persia is The Matrix only set in the past.'

Wait, wait, wait. You are complaining because they are trying to distance themselves from the video game, more so than any other video game adaptation. When was the last time a video game adaptation was good? OH yeah! NEVER! They are taking the right root. By "any time period" I think he means they might keep it the same or make it more 1800s

If they make it into a modern day action flick, with Persia being Iran, the plot being mingled with the conflicts in the middle east, and the dude has a gun.... I'm outta here.
I'm pretty sure he changed time period because there weren't enough explosions in the PoP setting.

If we're lucky, it'll be as good as Coyote Ugly, King Arthur, Bad Company, Pearl Harbour, Con Air, Remember the Titans and Kangaroo Jack combined (i.e., pure crap). Go Bruckheimer!
