With the PS3 constantly expanding its free online offering, the onus has been put on Microsoft to justify (or drop) its fees for Xbox Live Gold. The company has given Gold members a pseudo added value by keeping free content (demos, DLC, etc.) exclusive to Gold members for one week, after which it will be passed down like a threadbare, stained Led Zeppelin T-shirt to Silver members.
You read that right, Gold members: Your newest perk is that Silver members are getting hosed. We'll give you a moment to luxuriate in the exclusivity. Making it even sweeter, Silver members will still be able to see the content, it will just be undownloadable, a status signified by a red circle with a line through it. We Gold members will be pushing to have that symbol replaced with a picture of Bill Gates giving you the finger.

Bleh, us poor non-multiplayers are getting shafted again. And I'd appreciate if MS lowered the price of Gold from the ~$87 it is now in Europe.

How is this news? They have been doing this for over a year? What are you going to report next, how there seems to be reports of peoples 360 breaking down and showing three flashing red lights?

They have only been doing on select things up until now. With the update it's that way on everything, even stuff like the free DLC for BioShock.

It's not the cost; it's the principle.

yo people I'm deaf guy, I am gold member for $50 year. I think that Microsoft XBL is missing. Do you realize this AOL has 7 accounts user name? I have AOL 1 pay master account and 6 free accounts user name why is XBL one member without 7 free accounts members? that's why I disagrees with Microsoft XBL cuz my bro don't have credit card but I DO have credit card. XBL is mistake waste time again. I can't afford $100 year two members with my bro won't play online. they're microsoft xbl is idiots!... I am favor this "XBL master one member with 6 or 8 free members (who's job has credit card pay to XBL? MY IDEA new XBL membership master one member under modifying parental control 6 or 8 free members different age rating like AOL stuff like that)... those million the people who's have AOL members with 7 account user names with (free 6 user names) see? I am very disappointed at MS XBL all days

Well I was never really interested in online play, but golly gee whiz, now I get demos a week earlier!! Sign me up!!!
Honestly though, if someone has a silver account, it's probably because they don't think that online play is worth $50. I don't think that making them wait a week for demos is going to convince them to fork over the cash...

I think I'll 'reward' Microsoft (and other game companies) by buying my games a week later than gold members.
