Sexual harassment charges against Itagaki dismissed

And so the scalding sake saga comes to an end, with the sexual harassment charges against Team Ninja's Tomonobu Itagaki having been dismissed in the Tokyo District Court. The outspoken game designer was accused last year of behaving inappropriately in the presence of a former female Tecmo employee, allegedly displaying his fondness a bit too forcibly for her liking. With the suit settled and the charges vanquished, Itagaki has been declared an innocent man.

"I have held my head high and have fought the good fight for the past year in order to clear my name and to uphold the reputations of Team NINJA and of Tecmo," Itagaki told 1UP. "The former employee's arguments were judged to have been false, and all claims that she has brought against me have been dismissed." We expect he'll be celebrating the occasion by lopping off limbs and hoping this courtroom business remains nothing more than a mammary.

No matter what happened in reality ya gotta keep in mind Japan is so heavily shovanistic it probably wouldn't matter what she said. Heh, they did invent the most humiliating form of punishment for adultrious women.. I won't say what is as there are probably children reading these forums.

I can't imagine what passes for sexual harassment in Japan, from what I hear from female sailors that have been there it's not uncommon for a guy to start feeling up their butt at a bus stop.

This is a a sad day. My sympathies go to the family members of the dead. I always feel depress and frustrated when things like this happen.

And If Jack Thompson tries to blame this on video games, he would just be making more problems. There are some points where I do agree with him(albeit few points), but when he uses tragedies like this for his own personal agenda and gain it's sick.

Wait a minute. Did he settle, or was the suit dismissed? BIG DIFFERENCE. If he settled, then I have a hard time buying his "I'm innocent" routine, but if the case was simply dismissed, then he looks squeaky clean. A settlement doesn't really indicate that nothing happened quite like a case that just dies. If it was dismissed after he paid her money, then it was dismissed because she agreed to drop the suit for cash, not because there was not a valid claim of harassment.
