Age of Conan beta surpasses 10,000 testers, more invites to come
Age of Conan, Funcom and Eidos' perpetually delayed massively multiplayer romp through the magical world of Hyboria and its sea of rippling pecs, has surpassed 10,000 beta testers, which by itself would sound impressive had more than ten times this number of would-be warriors not signed up earlier this year. Given this, it seems that the powers-that-be have been particularly selective about who they let into their sandbox, a practice that we presume has Lord British chartreuse with envy. The devs state that Age of Conan is being patched and updated 'frequently,' and that Funcom plans to "continuously expand the beta efforts in the months to come, including adding tens of thousands of new testers," no doubt welcome news for the thousands of would-be players still waiting at the gate, shivering patiently in their loincloths for the chance to grind alongside fellow barbarians. The MMO, which was first announced way back in Ye Olde 2005, is currently scheduled to ship for the PC on March 25, 2008, though if you are like us you're holding off placing bets quite yet.

Someone need to do a MMO called Fanboys... select your favorite character of a Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo/Sega universe and fight against other fanboys.

Nah, people would keep on bitching that the game is TOBIAS to the other camp.

No mention of 360? I hope it still planned!

This may be my first MMO. The Conan universe is so underused in games, and is in my opinion one of the coolest scenarios ever imagined. The developers said that the leveling process is quick and easy, so it won't drain my life away. No guilds for me, either. Well, except my own. How does "The Immortals" sound, with me as the leader (Gamertag: Immortitron).

hopefully they'll do guilds more like in CoV then, where you could actually have 1-man ones. you need like 5 or 10 guys minimum for a warcraft guild, and you gotta pay quite a few gold too iirc
I'm looking forward to trying a demo of this game when it's released, but I can wait patiently until whenever that is :)

It's NEVER funny when you shoot yourself in the foot before we had time to laugh at you (on the internet anways).
Should've just stuck with the classic formula IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND!!!! and waited for some other dude to reply humourously to your comment.
Man, people should make internet humour schools so that we don't have to endure public displays like these. xD

Yeah... Anyone heard about WAR? I know I'm being a fanboys, but they have close to 500k beta applications... Plus, Paul Barnett is the man.
Cicadymn @ Dec 8th 2007 5:32PM
I don't care how many beta testers they have. I wanna know how many have applied personally. WAR's got 497k beta test applicants right now. Luckily WoW made MMO's popular so now people are looking for new takes on it and are willing to try out new ones.
