ps3 sales fell 25 times as much as 360 sales! numbers rule!
lol
Fox318 @ Dec 7th 2007 10:04PM
Regular GBA's are still in existence!!!
Durandel @ Dec 8th 2007 12:47AM
I'd buy one just to say I made up 20% of all GBA sales in the country for the week.
Dombay @ Dec 7th 2007 10:13PM
I swear there must be more DS lites in Japan than there are people, Nintendo are definetly going for world domination.
josh @ Dec 9th 2007 8:48PM
more than 120 million people live in japan
Fernando Rocker @ Dec 7th 2007 10:15PM
And Sony fanboys were very week with their 2 weeks outselling the Wii. =)
Poor little guys... according to them, the Wii fad should have ended six months ago.
Fatass of Kickassness @ Dec 7th 2007 10:18PM
Way to copy verbatim a post made earlier today.
Fernando Rocker @ Dec 7th 2007 10:22PM
Really? It was not intentional.
Vince UK @ Dec 7th 2007 11:24PM
Shut up Fernando you brainless dolt.
Vince UK @ Dec 7th 2007 11:27PM
There were no Sony fanboys, it was just you and your puppet theater.
RoboChamp @ Dec 7th 2007 11:32PM
Yeah, because Ratchet has always been known as the type of franchise to sell half a million over a weekend, oh wait...
And gasp, a SHOOTER didnt sell well in JAPAN? Get the fuck outta here!
Van Faulk @ Dec 8th 2007 12:00AM
@ Robochamp
Wasn't there an article a few months back about how ratchet is one of the few western games that DOES do well in Japan?
RoboChamp @ Dec 8th 2007 12:13AM
Considering the install base at the moment...
BPM - The Revenge @ Dec 8th 2007 12:14AM
No, the article was about how Ratchet gets "animetized" for the Japanese market. Unless we're thinking of different artciles... [shrugs]
Sadly, he hasn't performed well, either. Debut week at 10th place with 12k sales. Drops to 15th place next week, then disappears the week after from the top 30.
ill trooper @ Dec 8th 2007 1:06AM
You say that every time it seems - and while I like the Wii and it's a fun complement to my apartment, and it's cool it's doing well, the truth is, that machine can't play the games I've played most this year: Rainbow 6 Vegas, GRAW2, Call of Duty 4, Warhawk, Online Splinter Cell, Halo 3, and Rock Band. Nintendo didn't make it powerful enough, and the online is substandard.
It's just not the "single solution" that Wii fanatics act like it is. If that's what you want then buy one. But not everyone can be content with "Wii Fit" games. "Twice as many sold" doesn't affect me if I don't like the idea of the game. Even with less sales, the PS3 has more games I enjoy.
mr nimblewick (SegaDF - Jogurt Ring) @ Dec 8th 2007 1:12AM

But I don't want any of those games you listed. Maybe to some people it's all they need, but to others it isn't?
James @ Dec 8th 2007 5:24AM
It was like that on the forums I visit. Everyone talking about the phoenix rising up again. Lolol. It's back to being a little budgie now. Fluttering around in it's little cage.
ill trooper @ Dec 8th 2007 3:58PM
Exactly, Nimblewick. So you understand what I'm saying.
ukickmydog @ Dec 7th 2007 10:17PM
ps3 get owned much after a few weeks of "success" over the wii?
Darrell @ Dec 7th 2007 10:17PM
"We can't comment on the quality of the product yet, but the illustrations on the box make it seem like the perfect toy for the posers among us."
Such clever, clever diction. Hats off to mister Ludwig. You sir, should use some of that inherent wit on some Halo fans.
BPM - The Revenge @ Dec 7th 2007 11:55PM
If I had a 360, I would play Halo 3 just to hear Ludwig trashtalk. He'd probably use a vocabulary far more extensive than the collective vocabulary of the rest of the Live populus.
simmcity @ Dec 7th 2007 10:21PM
Fernando you shouldnt be too happy. For a product that was supposed to move quite a lot of consoles it only managed to get the Wii up to 70,000ish sold.
Fernando Rocker @ Dec 7th 2007 10:24PM
Well... in two days, WiiFit managed to outsell Ratchet, Uncharted and other "AAA" titles (AAA titles acording to Sony Fanboys) released weeks ago.
And it's expensier.
ukickmydog @ Dec 7th 2007 10:25PM
look at the weeks earlier then talk
Vidikron (FU) @ Dec 7th 2007 10:34PM
Hooray, a stupid ass scale saves the day for the Wii!
ukickmydog @ Dec 7th 2007 10:38PM
the question remains however; what will save the ps3? =O
Vidikron (FU) @ Dec 7th 2007 10:40PM
Good question. Perhaps motion detecting pants. The more ridiculous it sounds, the more likely it is to sell.
ukickmydog @ Dec 7th 2007 10:52PM
you know what does sound ridiculous on the ps3?
good games =D
zing
Vince UK @ Dec 8th 2007 12:02AM
and wii fit is a good game?
Can you picture yourself in a leotard performing the moves shown on the box, in front of your tv? (shudder)
BPM - The Revenge @ Dec 8th 2007 12:03AM
@simmcity:
Wii Fit did sell 261k its first week on the charts (which was just 2 days). So, a majority of Wii Fits sold was to existing Wii owners.
@Vidikron:
Motion-sensing pants sounds kickass!
ukickmydog @ Dec 8th 2007 12:07AM
please show me where i said wii fit is a good game. All i did was simply insult the ps3. Also, for your information, i do not think wiifit is a good game, and i doubt it will catch on in america. But, you can always be wrong, as proven by the SDF
BPM - The Revenge @ Dec 8th 2007 12:08AM
Who said you need a leotard to exercise? @_@
Still, it is saddening that an actual GAME isn't pulling in these kind of numbers. Like, oh, I dunno... Mario Galaxy. I don't know how it performed this week, as it was at #11 for the second time in a row (Media Create only reveals the figures for the top 10 games). So, all I know is it sold less than Yu-Gi-Oh! World Chamionship 2008 (first week on the chart, 35k).
But, this should put it at a total of about 340k units in Japan. Wii Fit's going to outsell it in no time. How sad.
Vidikron (FU) @ Dec 8th 2007 12:13AM
I think it will sell in the US. The US seems to be more in love with the Wii than Japan. Plus, Americans fall for all kinds of stupid gadgets that are supposed to improve your health. This thing won't do jack crap for anyone's health, but people will buy it for that reason anyway.
I'll consider buying one if I see something beyond stupid balancing mini-games. I'm hoping for some sort of good snowboarding game... and by "good" I mean doing more than just leaning left or right to steer.
Snatcher (MDF - Halo Ring) @ Dec 8th 2007 1:41AM
Im holding out for the Nintendo Virtual Cock-piece as previously championed by Zero Punctuation.
simmcity @ Dec 7th 2007 10:29PM
uncharted and ratchet, both games werent even designed for the japanese market
Fernando Rocker @ Dec 7th 2007 10:31PM
WiiFit in two days outsold Uncharted and R&C in America too.
Ratchet in all this weeks not sell 250,000 yet. In several weeks.
bender @ Dec 7th 2007 10:32PM
They didn't sell that great in NA either. Not bad mind you but not as much as what you would expect great games like those to sell.
Zoesch @ Dec 8th 2007 12:28AM
Fernando, fernando, your trolls are making me virtually rich!
Anyway, I didn't know that for a game to be good it had to sell a million copies in a day, dang... that means Eternal Darkness was shitty and so was Metroid Prime? What about Grim Fandango, or The Longest Journey.
We get it, Sony ran over your pet squirrel, but at least try to keep some semblance of logic in your arguments.
Because I can certify that Mario Galaxy was a much better game than Wii Sports even if it sold only 3% as many copies, likewise, Uncharted is a much better game than Wii Fit regardless of how many copies it sold.
But don't let that stop you from making me virtually rich, them dimes keep on coming.
mr nimblewick (SegaDF - Jogurt Ring) @ Dec 8th 2007 12:45AM
Sony ran over my pet Sega. :(
Zoesch @ Dec 8th 2007 12:49AM
It ran over mine as well, but who the hell told Sega to chase the ball?
Draco @ Dec 8th 2007 10:05AM
Sony was Busy, it ran over my pet Sega too! granted my poor little pet never was the same since it started the drugs and lost all sense of direction... and it was playing a game of peek - a - boo with the cars on the icy roads.
Zoesch @ Dec 8th 2007 10:31AM
You know, that's the problem with suicidal pets... we told Sega not to play on the road... did Sega listen? No.
Anyway, we were discussing what constitutes a real AAA title, according to Fernando it needs to be a million seller (in a week) regardless of quality, of course by his own definition SMG is not a real AAA title.
sheppy2.0 @ Dec 8th 2007 12:30PM
What constitutes an excellent game in Fernando's mind is as simple as this.
10 If [360 or WII] GOTO 40
20 If [PS3] PRINT "____ Sales, _____ Ratings, _____ any other excuse to hate"
30 PRINT Excuse. Ignore Logic protocals to validate point.
40 PRINT "_____ is Excellent Game. Better value that POS3."
50 END Dignity
Now, I know I cannot possibly explain this in a way that maybe Fernando will get since I explained this five times already... R&C:TOD is not the slowest selling Ratchet game. In fact, majority of Ratchet's sales have ALWAYS come from the long term and R&C, despite your charts, is actually on track to match the series performance. Let's just put it this way. How many copies of crackdown are selling right now? Per week, that is? Well, when Ratchet & Clank get this old during their lifespan, it'll outperform Crackdown real easy. Hell, it'll be outperforming most older titles. The Ratchet & Clank series is NOT instant million sellers. But they are long term million sellers.
Besides, we all forget. By Fernando's expert opinion, sales = quality game. Everytime. Holy shit... 50 Cent Bulletproof is a much better game than Metroid Prime 3. Fernando said it, it must be true.
Pedobear @ Dec 8th 2007 4:09PM
Yea but Sheppy, weren't the previous R&C games on the PS2, which had a much larger install base? So I am not sure it is going to sell as well as the previous ones a year from now.
why?cause i iz! @ Dec 7th 2007 10:32PM
Fernando SHUT THE FUCK UP!
My first time posting and i'm probably going to get hammered.
bender @ Dec 7th 2007 10:38PM
If there is any good in this world, he will get the banhammer before you.
hvnlysoldr @ Dec 7th 2007 11:47PM
Writing inconsisently, swearing, and calling to ban someone else is not very productive. If you got a problem with someone please send tips to Joystiq to sort out any issue. Attacking the person and stalking their posts only compounds the problem.
I'm amazed at how many boards Nintendo is going to make. And sincerely hope they'll have larger sized ones for US.
ukickmydog @ Dec 8th 2007 12:11AM
"I'm amazed at how many boards Nintendo is going to make. And sincerely hope they'll have larger sized ones for US."
lol, i'm glad i wasn't the only one thinking that.
bender @ Dec 7th 2007 10:34PM
Fernando beat me. :(
motang @ Dec 7th 2007 10:43PM
Wow...they still make DS Phats?
