looks like it could be a fun addition to my downloaded games collection. $10 would be the perfect price point for this too, just like SSD:HD.

This game has been done before. Its called R-type. R-type was a great shooter back on SNES and TurboGrafx16 days.

I own every R-type that came out. I still want this game. It brings
it all back. One thing that R-type lacked is the 2 player
Simultaneous option, which makes games like this twice as fun.

Oh and another R-type, "R-type Delta" came out for the original PS. You MUST check it out if you're an R-type fan.

R-Type was a little different, since you had the Force pod that once its use was mastered, opened an entire new game, so to speak. If you wanted a two player R-Type, don't forget there was R-Type Leo! Check here: http://hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/rtype/rtype.htm

R-Type is a lot slower than this game. This game looks a lot more hectic, kind of like Ikaruga (which I would play over an R-Type game any day).

Sold - I'm getting it. It's not great looking but I've missed this game. Now all I need to be really happy is the similar shooter Einhänder.

FINALLY a shoot-'em-up with two-player mode! THey removed this in R-Type Final - which was idiotic.

Hope to see more games with multiplayer mode in which you can paly on the same screen.

Are you sure this is going to be a PSN game? Play-Asia is selling the pc version for 50$.

I sure hope it's a cheap psn game because I will never spend that kind of money for a shmup.

Nevermind, I found this on the official site.
http://www.soldner-x.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=34&Itemid=1

"The title is targeted for release on PlayStation®3 (via PS Network) and PC in Winter 07/08. Further PlayStation®3 release details, such as available territories will be unveiled in the near future."

R-Type was not the first side scrolling shooter by a long shot.

The game actually looks like it will resemble the Gradius/Salamander/Nemesis series quite a lot. Not a bad thing. DLC has given a new lease of life to shooters. Other genres should be tapped now.

I am surprised there have not been more games on the PSN... almost all being released by Sony too. I understand that support would be less than XBL but surely there should be more than this.

$50 for the PC version is a joke. This should be $9.99 on PSN.

Also, if it's not 1080p, forget it....
