The latest bullet fired from Nyko's niche sniper rifle finally severs the terribly constrictive cable between the Wii's remote and its nunchuk controller. IGN has the full report on the Nyko "Wireless Nunchuck," a rather perplexing name given the addition of an extra "c" and, of course, the omission of a connecting wire. Without a wire, isn't it just... a stick?
Oh, but these are mere trifles compared to the sheer freedom of flailing unleashed by this untethered tech! No longer will your hugging high score suffer in Disneyland Mascot Sim -- only the reach of your fully extended arms can hold you back now! Gone are the days when skipping rope minigames resulted in accidental strangulation! It staggers us to think that Nintendo's oversight could be seen to by nothing more than a wireless stick, some extra batteries and a dongle (possibly containing peace-of-mind cooling fans) attached to the bottom of your Wiimote.
You say you'd rather wait until CES delivers price and release details? Why do you hate freedom?

I'd rather have a wire. I've tried holding them seperate (just to see how it would feel) and I don't like it. Should come in use for someone though.

me and my brother were playing his wii and we were both wondering why the hell the nunchuk is not wireless. If you feel it, its extremly light, and must be nearly hollow inside, plenty of room for a battery and transmitter/reciever. I deffenitly want to pick one up. Once of the most annoying things playing the wii is the dumb wire inbetween the 2 pieces.

cost would be the best reason. keeping that sucker at 250 bucks is the key to them winning the war.

Never would I buy a wireless Nunchuk. More to pay for, more wireless signals to cause interference, more batteries to keep charging, and more to lose. I'm sure some will be interested, but I've just never had a problem with the current Nunchuk to even consider dealing with the issues it brings up.

What they don't tell is it that the two separate pieces are now connected by pure energy. This of course, will make it impossible to get a cord tangled around anything since it will slice right through it.

It doesn't work with the Wiimote sleeves so will Nyko be introducing a "solution" to that as well?

wiimote straps and sleeves are for people who don't have opposing thumbs.

I'm a smart bean and buy rechargeable batteries and a 15 minute charger. I'd buy this.

Well if you want to immerse yourself in some future lightsaber game I'd say you'd need wireless, wouldn't you?
