Strike holds up Castlevania movie

Dearest readers, the sad duty of dream-crushing falls upon us, and we must report to you that the live action Castlevania movie (produced by Paul W.S. Anderson and directed by Stomp the Yard's Sylvain White) has been halted thanks to the ongoing writer's guild strike.
You may remember that when we last heard about the film, it was being rushed to production to try to beat the start of the strike, a noble goal it apparently failed to reach. (Way to go, higher power that we now have a renewed faith in!) That said, like a recently slain Transylvanian count, we doubt we've heard the last of the movie.

I like Castlevania and all (still playing through the PSP one) but I'm actually *happy* the silver screen one is being held up(and hopefully thrown out)... because all I see in it thus far is another godawful VAN HELSING-ish film on the horizon.

Ah, old school Castlevania. The Dracula design was cliche'd, but at least the heroes were manly men and not stand ins for J-pop stars.

Eh, at least one good thing came of it
Of course, we're going to be subjected to a barrage of new reality shows/game shows after the christmas season, when they run out of pre-recorded episodes, i'm already seeing the ads on ABC
But on another note, how does this affect Anime (real, Japanese Anime)? Do these localizers fall in with this union, since they technically do have to write, to fill in cultural blind spots and idiomatic expressions, or don't they? Or are all these anime localized so far in advance that it doesn't matter anyway?

Domestic dubbers are got in "teh trap" they have to loco-lize it to make it appealing to the brain dead drooling money spending population of whatever region the rapage is meant for.
If you can't tell i hate most dubbers for their shear inability to simply translate subs and songs and add notes about the culture and remarks, they can rape the dub all they want but at least try and offer a full featured subbing, hell even video games can't offer it I'll take a JP/any voice track over crappy US dubbing anyday, sadly it goes back to selling it to the masses, the masses do not like to read and do not like hearing other languages....

BTW Van hellsing was good, it was like the Mummy and POTC,a lite and fun and dark flick.
better than underworld,blade or other posh fake trash vampfests.
Van hellsing is the last great monster flick on the big screen I have seen, if they can do better than it let them but I doubt it, it will turn into another modernized trash of a film by doing everything wrong.

The only thign I wish it they have budget to at least make propper good special effect and like we saw on other related game movie, its never totally follow the storie.It,s some to a overrall view it get more popular as a movie when it not relly like the game. In fact , I think it would be best for that game to be produce in a animated movie like final fantasy advent children when they could do something totally kick ass wiht action and all full of mythic creature, but the japanese would not do it, they didn’t still yet and they only thing about creating game.To affraid to pick idea of a game or don,t want to remake the game in anime even if it would be surelly very popular. Like for final fantasy needed a lot of petition form japanese fan to final got somethign for final fantasy.The japanese only have games in mind from game serie, you can only get real movie from american and it cannot be like totally like the games because that game is to much manga for the power of the hunter and the action, I’m guessing theyr are still not enough good to make the special effect of it and the magic of the hunter need to be change and cannot come from magic item. Like the magic grand croos you cannot make it with big cross flying with a beam of light, it would be weird in real movie…I’m guessing to that doign super effect for cool fighting with whip is a little hard or hard for actor to become relly good with a whip.(but the true form of the vampire killer is not more a flail whip then leather whip? for me it is, how they will get that? always create by computer ?
On the other though maybe it could not be so out of the game, it didn’t relly say we will not see a belmont, it just the resume of the beginning maybe? maybe it could be somekind of sequel the playstation game 2 castlevania : lament of innocence, the game that a lot of people screwed so much, a game i didn’t disliked so much.It,s sure in some way it annoying they destroy the old beginning of thta sequel who was in 1400 with the vlad tepez dracula with the vampire hunter sonia belmont in castlevania legend. Anyway, in the lament of innocence is in 1100 and dracula is mathias Cronqvist and after the end of the game ,it’s say it took 200 yrs before the belmont see dracula again and no game Have been made in 1300. Maybe it not but they should put it in that time. maybe it will start with a bunch of knight who get murdered in strange way in a castle who have been lost for few year and far from everythign and never explored and rumor of their death been heard , maybe 100 yrs later and will pick the curiosity of hunter and surelly of the one who wear the whip who been train secretely and been told about dracula(mathias cronqvist named itself vlad tepez?)All over the years before the knight show up he was sleeping and hiding and why belmont lost is track ,b ut that event will make them to is track ? The big problem will be the end of the movie, because as we know dracula in casltevania never relly die and it cannot relly be a end for a movie… Could they make more then a movie of castlevania ? not sure becasue it will be to much alike.

If what we see in IMB is true that it will be about sonia belmont, maybe better the knight fleeing from turk ,if wasn't like my wish about them.But the new director who only made not good movie...The designer for the cloth will have headache to created them if they do as castlevania creator do their crazy cool character outfit.
