The video-game gods hate Europe. The don't get some good games and the ones they do are either months later than the rest of the world or pointlessly edited. Eh, at least they can get free* VC games now.

The best that NA has gotten from Nintendo is a cheap stylus or keychain, (and that's pretty rare).

*Well, free after you've already bought a shit-ton of games...

I actually like it BETTER that way. It makes the game that much weirder.

I wonder if this counts for all european versions. The UK and germany's rules are pretty strict, but here in holland there still lax. We could just as well have the bloody version (plz)

Can I ask where the news about the game being censored is from? Despite the label on the video it looks like this might just be side/bonus mission gameplay where the objective is to collect lots of money, hence the coins and the money counter in the bottom right.

Yeah, as others have said, this isn't Euro-specific, it fits in Japan as well (which is odd, since the japanese are generally freaked out by neither excessive violence or blatant sexuality)

Coins are an interesting replacement, since you do make money for every baddie you kill anyway, and as others have said, fits in neatly with this incredibly stylized game

Excessive violence is a bit more of a touchy subject in Japan than it is in America.

Games like Dead Rising got a Z rating from CERO (18+; equivalent to ESRB's AO). Resident Evil 4 lacks beheadings in the Japanese version so that they could keep a D rating (17, equivalent to an M rating).

huh, i never knew that, considering that all their animes seem to be edited for LESS violence when they get to America

Only the stuff that's done by 4Kids or gets put on Toonami.
If it's on Adult Swim, or another network, or just goes straight to DVD, it is lightly/not censored.

frack

North America needs a dedicated anime network, even if its only on digital/satellite

instead Anime seems to be pushed more to the back-burner by networks, its mostly gone from Fox's 4Kids TV, Toonami's down to a 2-hour block, and Adult Swim Saturday has only 2 series where they show new episodes

There is the Anime Network:
http://www.theanimenetwork.com/

And FUNimation Channel:
http://www.funimationchannel.com/

You'll have to check with your cable/satellite provider if you get it in your area, though.

G4 used to air anime, when they used to be G4TechTV... And TechTV used to air anime before they were absorbed (ugh... It's painful to think about it...).

I’m a little confused as to what has changed, the colour of the stuff pouring out of the enemies when you hit them? Really, is seeing blood when you hit someone the real problem or is it this pathetic idea people have these days about violence.
You can’t exactly sensor people getting hurt, this game is for adults, we aren’t going to be affected by seeing blood (completely fictional characters and blood, might I add)...
Just Imagine if movies where changed like this, Saw would be more of a comedy than a horror.
People need to get a reality check if they play a game like this then go on a rampage with a modified light sabre killing people (I think I’ve gone off on a bit of a tangent now so I’ll stop).

I must admit that a Saw-type movie where puppies and rainbows shoot out of wounds does sound intriguing.

But in all seriousness, I'm glad the US version isn't coins... the way it looks bugs me...

I know this has been said in the thread before, but people seem to be ignoring this, so I'll say it again.

The coins didn't replace blood in ANY version. The American version has blood AND coins. ALL the versions have coins, but the American version is the only one to have blood as well.

What the shit?

Well, the Netherlands got the completely uncensored version of Manhunt 2 because the government felt people are supposed to be responsible for their own actions and tastes.

Hopefully we'll be the ones to get the un-fuckedup version of NMH as well.

As its been said before, the Japanese also got the no-blood thing. I think the only reason the US version got blood was because that was the only was it would sell to US gamers...

I kind of saw that comming. All the controversity around Manhunt 2, a game I couldn't care less about. But I did since Suda's comment on NMH beeing way more violent than MH2. "Ouch." I thought back then, because I felt this statement was very unprofessional, improbable and dangerous at the same time.
