Jean Claude Van Damme and Guillermo Toledo promote worldwide WoW love

With the popularity of Shatner and Mr. Tureaud's commercials for World of Warcraft, Blizzard has brought it's celebrity advertising game to a global scale. In a TV spot for France, Jean Claude Van Damme talks about his mage, and, though our French is a little spotty, we're pretty sure he complains about having to respec after patch 2.0.1. After the jump, Spanish comedian Guillermo Toledo talks about how rolled paladin, and how he gets all the cyber-tail in Azeroth. Poor guy.

Yes, we know most of you won't be able to understand both of these commercials, but before the monolingual horde comes to tear us limb from limb, know that there's nearly 10 million subscribers to WoW, and a nice portion of them live in non-English-speaking areas of the world. Plus, you don't have to know the Spanish language to know that Willy Toledo says "paladin" much, much sexier than you or we could ever hope to.

Van Damme translation (I translate French to English and vice-versa to make it stay true to what he says):

-My name, it's Jean Claude Van Damme and I am a mage!

-The Hand-to-hand combat for me now, c'est fini.
"It's over"

-Now I cast spells, puissants!
"powerfull!"
-If you taunt me too much, I transform you into a mouton.
"sheep"

A sheeeeeep!

-Because we all have a bit of sheep in us, you know.

Then I'll translate the spanish one:

- Hello my name is Guillermo Toledo and I'm a Paladin!

- I am a mix of thrower (of something I didn't understand, spells I guess) and a hand-to-hand fighter.

- hand-to-hand... clearly what I like most..! (lame sex joke)

- But..! This is very serious! I am the protector of the Holy Light!

- I am Guillermo Toledo and I'm a Paladin.

- And you? What do you play?

"Soy una mezcla de lanzador de hechizos y luchador cuerpo a cuerpo."

I'm a mix of a spellcaster and a hand-to-hand fighter.

Willy Toledo it's a very good comedian. Nice to see him announcing this game. ^^

Obie wins. But I agree WoW is already more popular than Jesus, these commercials can't possibly help to promote it any more.

I contribute (primarily on Wowinsider).

Quite frankly, we get it. A lot of gamers feel Wow doesn't deserve attention. Still, it has 9 millions players for a reason (easy to get into and a friendly social atmosphere). I happen to play both Wow and I'm an avid console nut, so I see both sides of the issue.

Posting negative comments EVERY SINGLE TIME Wow comes up gets irritating. Really irritating. Gonk isn't adding anything to the discussion.

If you don't like Wow, ignore it. No need to spout garbage every time.

the first 10 levels were the best, and it went downhill (slowly) from there

GO FRENCH-SPEAKING COMMERCIALS! - I liked the Spanish one very much though. Yay for understanding several languages!

I absolutely love the commercial made by Toledo (probably because I'm Spanish). I was really shocked when I saw it on TV in prime time. Videogames are not that usual on TV here, except during the Xmas consumer frenzy, of course.

By the way, there's another WoW commercial made by Verne Troyer (Mini-Me in Austin Powers). You can see it on WOWinsider.

Van Damme looks old in this commercial, I remember watching most of his kick boxing movies, he was my inspiration to this martial arts.

I loved the Mister T one the most :)

Of course this was the only way for Jean Claude Van Damme to get his name mentioned on national television XD

Now we just need to se Erik Estrada, Chuck Norris, and Steven Seagal. Ooh, and maybe Clint Eastwood.
