Treyarch ruined the call of duty name. Activision needs to stop milking damn Call of duty already. Maybe one day Infinity Ward will become independent kinda like Bungie.

Yeah, but just like Bungie doesn't own Halo anymore, the Call of Duty IP will stay with Activision, and they'll be completely free to drive CoD into the ground.

No please no. I don't want another WWII Shooter. CoD 4 was so great because is set on a modern combat.

I'm pretty sure most of us are tired of WWII games right now.

Same goes for me, I'm not ever buying another game developed by Treyarch. Spider-Man 3 was just AWFUL! Graphics on par with Big Rigs. And I haven't played COD3 but I've heard plenty about how bad it was compared to 2 and 4. Infinity Ward is clearly one of the best game developers out there.. MOST gamers don't bother reading these sites and knowing who did what, so a large portion of the gamers who liked COD4 will hate COD5 and never buy COD6. Way to destroy your core audience.

That MR.Nelson Rodriguez over at Achievment Junkie, actually saw over the shoulder of a treyArch employe while on the plane, and saw most of the details to COD5... I can safly say its going to be modern.

I heard this mentioned some time back. Call of Duty 5, as I understand it, is being made by the same people who did Call of Duty 3, and will be set in WWII.

Call of Duty 6, will be done by the people who did Call of Duty 4 and 2, and will continue to be modern warefare, as established in COD4.

you want an idea? Make a non-historically-technologically-correct ancient historic war. Example, although I'm no good at any - try to do the American Civil War. Only thing that you'd have to do is put in some decent Civil-War looking machine guns (which weren't invented until after the civil war), sniper rifles, etc. because cleaning a rifle in the middle of a game isn't any fun. Potentially, this could get really fun - the civil war had a lot of large battles and sweeping locales, and fighting on virtual American soil could be pretty fun.

Medieval Warfare...I have trust that Infinity Ward can pull that off. "You just got owned in the face by an arrow" What's not awesome about that? I mean get 7 kills in a row and you get to unleash the Black Plague.

CoD4 = rampant critical and retail success, so what to do with CoD5? Get a development studio that's familiar with the franchise to do it for cheap and capitalize on the success of the last game. Yay! -_-

you're right - Treyarch fucked up completely with CoD 3, I was horrified at how terrible it was - the graphics had gone BACKWARDS since CoD: finest hour, the mini games were shocking, and there was no story at all. please, Treyarch, leave this reforming series alone. I have all the CoD games there are, I think I know a good CoD from a bad CoD when i see it.

And please, I know you're all americans and want to blow my country up in the American Revolution, but that war was about as boring and short as a fly's life. now, the reason we have no WW1 games is because the Americans practically did nothing in WW1, so the American games developers wouldn't dedicate an entire game to playing as the British or French. I think that's kinda racist myself. The pacific front was shown to be crap in MoH. WW2 has been played to death. Can they not just carry on with the modern day, SAS and USMC stuff? now THAT is more interesting than playing as a European Freedom fighter against some Nazis.

the reason i was attracted to CoD in the first place many years ago was because it wasn't like MoH - where you're a one - man american army saving Europe single - handedly from the Nazis. CoD actually showed that all the other countries did something.
Oh, and I've researched about the American Civil war, if they set a CoD then it would be shit and I wouldn't be buying it. It'd just be MoH all over again but oldified.
Please, just leave it modern now. We're all like an exhausted Army that just couldn't bear to be forced back into the 2nd world war all over again.

I dont care really, cause Call of Duty 3 is an OK game, good enough for me even on the PS2. But if they put some better weapons in (from WWII of course) and put some planes and helicopters you could fly, and worked on graphics, I think it would be better

The type of ww2 fps that tends to come out of development should die. Even now its still often The lone American (or close to it) vs the Germans in some franchise named after medals or glory or w/e. Call of Duty 1 went in the right direction. Americans Russians and British and some interesting scenes. Moh Spearhead had a few interesting ideas like the mission where you spend half your time just ducking shells.

However. There are fronts and indeed, entire nations that haven't even been touched on yet. The ones that have been haven't been much and even then in a very floored way. Where are the games with a strong anti-war taste. Where are the games where you play as the German soldier under Nazi oppression. Hell wheres the game where you play as the true Nazi soldier (as long as its done in a tasteful way with plenty of irony)

Where are the games with deep characters, decent voice acting, strong research. Where are the games that actually make a point. Where are the games that are fresh!. Where are the whatif games that are really well rooted reality but still go onto an interesting alternate reality.

So im totally with ppl that say ENOUGH OF WW2 fps, but only in terms of the kind of ww2 fps that keeps getting recycled. In terms of the games that could be made, the points of view that could be taken, the flavour of games that could be made, the political point that could be made, the feeling that could be involved, they havent even touched on ww2 yet, and i really hope that they do, make gaming a media that can rival film artistically and educationally.

hay, calm ur tater tots a about this political points stuff. Educational would fit in though nothing against or with the war. Just things of what went on in the battles

Vietnam or Korean war!!! dont put any political points or something that would make you question if the company. Just make a decent FPS like cod4 where you can rank up, earn new guns, gear maybe even customize your face.and a good team based game in multi-player. Not one fat dude sitting on his couch with a hot dog owning the opposite team with his ubermicro skillz.

The reason why they'll never make a Vietnam CoD is because it sucks to have your whole platoon wiped by three Vietnamese guys and their traps.

America lost against Vietnam so it's unpatriotic to make Vietnam Games. I hate the idea of patriotism in your fucking country...
