Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is Still Alive

Did you miss us yesterday? We bet you did, but don't think for a second that we were gone for good. Believe us, we are still alive. So is Scott Ramsoomair, who after an extended VG Cats hiatus delivers a flash-based fan video for Portal. The music is Jonathan Coulton's "I'm Still Alive," so we should go ahead and warn those that haven't beaten the game to not view this video, as it is enriched with spoilers. Enriched like moist, delicious cake.

lack of funny means I gotta give it to dueling analogs for the lemmings reference.

Yeah already saw this, closed it half way. It's a very pointless, crappily done, boring, non-interesting piece of work. Definitely didn't expect something like this on Joystiq (is this what we're turning into?).

I voted for Pixpup because at least they added all the week's jokes together for a nice string of tiny laughs.

Why is VG Cats excluded from voting? Scott put in the extra effort of animating it, and he is rewarded by being excluded from voting? What's next, will Joystiq exclude Penny Arcade because it's too nicely colored?

Last time I checked, an animation was not a webcomic. Just because Scott made it and put it up on his comic site does not make it a comic.

Well, I'm not watching the VG cats one because i don't want the spoilers, but it wins by default because none of the others were funny.

What happened???

The lemmings reference was interesting (mostly because it made me want a Wii Lemmings game), but it wasn't funny either. (and it was based on an ancient joystiq piece which didn't make sense at the time, as it failed to factor in the fact that the Wii is/was the only console with a pack-in game).

They all suck equally.

This is a pretty weak week. I voted for PA, and it's barely relevant.

That's why in the results, they all have pretty much the same vote counts. Because everyone's voting randomly.

Ugh, picking the lesser of multiple evils is going to be a challenge.

The lemming/wii reference is hilarious.

Pixpup fails since Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk were already Activision properties before the merger. I know they tried to flavor it up with the Vivendi music comment, but no.

2Pstart wins. Sonic's doesn't even have breasts and Sega's still trying to milk him.

I agree. 2PStart was great. Made me laugh while sobbing softly.

I also voted for the sad sad 2pstart one. Sometimes the funniest things are the truth.

We should just give VGCats the weekly award right now and call it a day.

This week sucks.

That VG cats music video is worthless. It's only getting attention because of how amazing "Still Alive" is. Bitches are riding its coat-tails.

I don't see why everyone's loving the VGcats video so much, it's just a simple animated face so the actual video isn't good and it's just getting attention for Still Alive. Which must be a month old by now.

Still Alive is old as the internets.

Well, it's two months old, and he's JUST NOW trying to profit from it? (It shows something about VG Cats and CTLALTDEL vs Penny Arcade about Portal... only one of the three doesn't have a crappily-designed "Cake is a lie" shirt.)

I voted Dueling Analogs after reading his comments. Made a ton of sense, great post.

"Call of Guitarcraft" could be the best game ever, if it didn't take itself seriously, or was super campy.

Anything making fun of the writing in Sonic games is a-okay in my book.

Truly awful selection this week save for 2pstart, but at the very least now I really wish they'd put Lemmings on the VC.

My vote goes to Madiart. Irony FTW!

I swear three of those comics were basically the same damn thing. However, one did make up for it's lame Activizarrd theme by poking fun at the GameStop situation.

Why is Penny Arcade up at nearly 14%, which is a tie for second place? It's not even funny. Glad everyone votes from the humor perspective and not the name.

FYI, humour is not a necessity in a comic. It's at least more intellectually engaging than avtivision blizzard jokes.

Fairly weak, as most of them were about Activizzard, the jokes about which already feel old

I liked 2Pstart for commenting on Sonic's hideous writing, but Digital Unrest took it because of that griefer with the 0.5 starred video

I guess being even remotely funny is not a requirement for wasting your time publishing a web comic. What a bunch of stinkers.

ALl of these comics were horrible, when it comes to being funny, but I voted for PA since it made a comment on the change in gaming, by concentrating on a market that was always there.

DA was the worst it was another Bitch a moan comic about people buying the WII. Basically crying they aren't doing what he feels they should do with their game system, when are these comics going to end.

This weeks' VG Cats != comic

Wow. World of Warcraft + Guitar Hero. A punchline EVERYONE thought of 5 seconds after hearing the merger news. Props to those websites that actually had a shred of creativity and an original thought.

PSP jokes wow thats kind of old,too bad the PSP lite really sucks,the quality of the new PSP model is inferior compared to the older one,I dropped it yesterday by accident and the umd drive door doesn't works anymore(With that I mean now its really hard to open).

The Node and Dueling Analogs made me ROFL. The first one was very ironic, but it felt like a jab made too easily.

Anything with Tauren, I'm game for.

I couldn't understand half of what was said in the VGCats video. At first I thought it was my laptop speakers, so I tried it on my desktop, and still I only catch half of it. Mostly just "I'm still alive".

The Penny Arcade comic that came after the one linked here was hilarious. I wish I could have voted for that one.

I voted for the Pixelated Pupils... You got the Activisizzard and Gerstman (sp?) going on... But I gotta ask: Is the whole Activizzard thing REALLY that funny? REALLY that substantial? I couldn't care less really. Activision isn't my favorite publisher and Blizzard, well I would never pay subscription fees for a game. That's just wrong.

How would a tony hawks guitar hero game come from the activision vivendi merger? Activision already owned both of them.
