I think alot of the small 'kids' on here need to learn some economics.

In regards to the 120 MILLION PS2 owners, where do you people get these numbers. SHeeeesh. NOT EVERY PS2 that was sold is still working. MY GOD. Yeh, they may have shipped/sold that many, but ALOT of the first ones (7-8 years ago) have long since been tossed. Go around to any 'garage (garbage) sales' and see the PS2's that are for sale for $1...lol.. How about the laser diode lawsuit.

I'll give the Sony fanboys the benefit and say there are probably 40 Million working PS2's in peoples hands today (which is still one heck of alot), but no where near 100 million. Thats laughable. Those units were not meant to last. They were just too cheaply made.

Now, assuming a few million have already got a 360, and another 10 milllion got the PS2 as a gift (couldnt' afford it on their own), then that leaves the 'POTENTIAL' PS3 buyers ALOT lower than 100 million.

PS3 will survive, but at the current price, its still too much. Sony is bleeding money on this unit and with all the 'extra' money they spend to retain timed exclusives or exclusives (considering the small userbase), its just not going to happen.

As for the $100 wireless MS adapter, you can get a regular one from New Egg for $29 that works fine with the 360. The MS one is actually better than b & g by the way. Its the 'next' level of data throughput (look it up) for video streaming from your PC or Internet. Thats part of the reasone its $100.

Anyways, thanks Joystiq.. Always entertaining listening to the uneducated discuss matters which they have no control over. Makes my spare time here at work more enjoyable!!!

Peace out

So The Wii and the XBOX are going to continue in a similar growth pattern as they have been, while PS3 is going to suddenly rocket to success?

In reality your looking more at 35-40mil units for the PS3 not 70.

The credibility of this report is quickly called into question when their graph shows the Wii selling over 20 million units in 2007. By Nintendo's own estimates, they'll only be at 17.5 million units sold by the beginning of Q2 2008.

I think there will be something else in the next few years that will be the next trend that everyone wants.
