Get ready to gift: Wii Shop Channel down for maintenance

Sure enough, we got online to do our usual video wrap-up post when we discovered that the Shop was down. We tried our best to beat the buzzer, but sure enough, our luck is lacking. So, we're going to keep an eye on the store and when it goes back up, we'll do the feature, so be sure to keep an eye out tonight. If you aren't able to hang about late, then be sure to check in the morning.

In the spirit of the season, why don't you test out said virtual console gift giving - I'd love Baseball Stars 2.

They had to take it down the one night that I actually wanted to download a game too; I've been looking forward to Poke`mon Snap on the Virtual Console for like two weeks. Woe is me~!

The update is ready...grabbing it now. Requires a Wii System update. Will post as i find anything new/interesting

well there is a new button in the ui. Its quite nifty...

Added Gifting and the new Photo channel is available...

I got the update, but it's absolutely impossible to connect to the shop. Downloading anything would have hours just to navigate to the page, if it were possible to get the shop up in the first place.

photo channel 1.1 is up, check your wii ware

It woworks! the new photo channel is there, as well as gifting and pokemon snap!!! and that's it, along with a nice new look to the icon and larger icon when you click on it.

i dont see a way to change your photo channel icon tho, the only difference i see is the music files change

oh, you go to post the picture, and it has the option for post to wii menu, and your pic is now the photo channel icon

come on wiifanboy! post an update to this article, i must know ALL about this update!

To post a picture as the channel icon, all you have to do is post a picture to the Wii message board, then click post again and click the Post as channel button.

Does it make it possible to actually connect to the Wii Shop Channel now? I can never get it to work completely- usually I will get into the VC, only to keep getting connection errors. Grrr.
