Yeah I did. There are 3 differences:
1. Increased contrast and color. This is consistent with a different gamme.
2. The sight is more see-through. Can't attribute this to anything.
3. The red dots in the dark areas are much brighter. I can't attribute this to anything.

#2 and #3 are definitely "touched up", but they're not a huge deal, they don't amount to anything. #1 is just a different gamma curve, since JPEG doesn't handle gamma matching properly most of the time it isn't at all uncommon to change the gamma on a picture so that the JPEG represents what was displayed on the screen when the picture was taken.

People are making a mountain out of a molehill. Go check the "screenshots" Kotaku uses for Viva Pinata. They are early target renders, not even adjusted shots from the game.

The changes made here are just not a big deal.

What's worse? Touched-up screenshots or saying your game supports 720P on the back of the box when it in actuality it doesn't?

Killzone 2 better be pretty fucking amazing to even be able to mention it in the same breath as Call of Duty 4.

That IS the game you were trolling with, right?

FFS and that other game wasn't the second coming of Christ either. But I did mention that on a post above, it's not like there's no other companies doing it (And yes it's toiling close to the false advertisement line) and at least Guerilla is fessing up to it, so kudos, I prefer that to a company that says that Widescreen is not Widescreen and another that says 640p is 720p, hope you guys don't notice.

In the end if the game is fun, who cares?

I think he was most likely trolling for Halo 3 since that's what most Sony fanboys do.

I think GaryM may have been talking about teh Haloz, seeing as how they've just had a case announced against them for missing pixels and alleged false advertising.

My question is, wasn't Killzone 1 generic as all hell.
Why does ANYONE care about the sequel? Just because of a flashy pre-rendered trailer? If so...for shame.

If you get a chance to do so, play the first Killzone on a PS3, there is a HUGE improvement...guess the PS2 just wasn't able to handle it...

I beta tested the first Beta-Kill-Terd. Just like the final product, all the color correction won't help if they haven't fixed your charater clipping thru objects, pop-up and really boring gameplay.

It's pretty funny seeing some of these posters on the Sony message boards have mock ups of a 360 style gamer profile. Kind of cute actually. "6 games played" and then a list of the games...cute.

Wow thats a huge difference. Can any console shooter compete with GEARS graphically? Not yet. COD4 is right below it though. I have part 1 of KZ. It was aight lol. I dont have any high expectations for this at all. It just looks bland. Dont flame me its just an opinion.

And like any opinion it can be agreed with -- or casually diregarded as nonsense (that's my choice, LOL).

Whatever. All games do it-- marketing is a fact of life. Besides the lighting/colors, those look virtually identical-- the high-res textures and beautiful models are the important part.

I'd give them the benefit of the doubt, to some degree. Remember how HORRIBLE Metroid Prime 3 screens looked in previews, even worse than MP1 graphics? Nintendo kept saying "it looks better in motion"

Well, it does.

This would almost be worth worrying about was it not for the fact that the recent gameplay videos show that Killzone 2 is already the best looking console fps -- by far.

So, they wanted it to look even better than that, in a few tarted up screenies...Please, chill out people :)

You mean "the best bland looking FPS game on any console." Stop buying into all this hype dumbass. This game will be an 8.0 or 8.5 at best. Part 1 wasnt all that and this one will folow suit.

What's worse, playing an incredible game that a few pixel counting nerds cry foul about or waiting year after year for a game that's ultimately 'just another shooter', AND still isn't out.

It's funny, but I bought my 360 as a stopgap until some decent ps3 games came out since that was the system I really wanted. But now... man... I *might* pick one up in a year or two used to play Ratchet, and maybe 1 or 2 other games the system (hopefully) will have by then.

I still don't know how Sony blew it this bad...

Nintendo doesn't tend to doctor up their photos much and it shows. The screen shots in Nintendo Power look pretty bad, but fortunately things are much smoother in game. I think that people are making this into more of a problem than it is.

Like Fenix said this game will be average at best...

I don't understand why they don't just apply the same effects they used to touch up the screenshot to some post processing color corection filter within the game. This seems to be what MGS4 is doing. If I remember correctly, they even showed a video of it where they changed the filters in real time.
