Finally, UT3 comes to those of us who can't afford to upgrade our rigs. Now to find a good Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

You could probably find a better video card for your rig with the cost of a decent bluetooth mouse and keyboard.

Ahh, to have a completely imbalanced game of UT with normal folks using the pads and PC-replacers using mouse & keyboard.

Some fantastically balanced games coming up there.

Won't matter if there's an option to select what control schemes are allowed when setting up a game. I'm not certain there's an option like that, but I think I read that somewhere.

yea screw the whole imbalance of PC vs PS3 cross platform play, they now may have that same problem on the PS3 by itself. does anybody have any information on whether or not you will be able to filter who is using a controller and who is using a m/kb in online multiplayer games?

So which Version are you Guys/Gals gonna get?
I'm going with either the PS3 or 360 Version. Sorry PC, No Deal for you.

So I'm torn between the PS3/360 version.

(Don't care about kb/m)

im gonna pick it up for ps3 just because i dont feel like waiting for the 360 version, but in the end the 360 one is prob gonna be the better choice seeing there are a ton of people on XBLive compared to PSN.

The PS3 version will support mods, the 360 version won't. I had no interest in getting this game at all, but because I can create an entire new game out of it I definitely picking it up for the PS3 (don't have a 360 and I use a Mac so I don't have a PC).

Umm, you NEED Unreal Editor 3.4 for PC (maybe Mac, no clue) to modify PS3's version of UT3. But no worries, you CAN DL other peoples mods.

The PC version is obviously the ultimate version. The only reason to buy a console version is if your PC can't handle it and you don't want to upgrade ever.

gonk = partially right.

According to Epic, Sony said yes, MS said no. So PS3, you can mod however you want. However, Epic also said on 360, if nothing else, they'll petition MS to make available a sort of "best of" style release.

In other words, you CAN DL certain mods, maps, etc. All have to be certified via Microsoft. But on PS3, you can build the level on PC and playtest it on PS3, take it back to PC to perform adjustments, back and forth, etc.

So 360 will get mods, just a very limited selection of them and the ability to create levels on PC to play on your console is removed.

I would definately go with the PS3 version since it will have access to all the mods. You probably won't get access to them on 360. May have to pay for good ones or something. Plus, who knows when it will be released.

360 users pay for online multiplayer, PSN is always free. PSN even has more players allowed in some games. And with cross game invites coming, PSN is the best deal.

One of my custom levels on UT3 is beyond my rigs ability to run it. Can't wait for the PS3 version.

I do have to ask this though. Am I the only one annoyed that possibly the hardest info to track down on games right now is it's local multiplayer? Does UT3 support splitscreen? Damned if anyone knows.

From what I've read, offline co-op is supported. So I assume that head-to-head (at least 2-player) is also possible. I'm still in the dark about 4-player or online splitscreen, though.

Somewhat worried that no advanced copies of either the Box or UT3 on PS3 were given to gaming publications. That is always a bit troubling, though impressions have been good on UT3 PS3 and terrible on PS3 Orange Box as far as how well the game runs on PS3.

In any case, moar good stuff for gamers. I'm behind the way it is though. Mass Effect has me locked in while COD4 still remains unopened and Orange Box unfinished. Got through Galaxy though!

Ha, I'm playing those same games in reverse. Beat CoD twice, working on Galaxy now, with Mass Effect on deck...and Orange Box remains unfinished (though, honestly, making sure everyone I know plays through Portal was worth the $60 alone).

Since I had to send my Xbox in for repairs I've just managed to finish Eternal Sonata (Are the japanese as crazy as that story makes them look?), and I've started working on Assassin's Creed which I'm really enjoying. After that I've got to find time to play Uncharted, Mass Effect, Crysis, The Witcher, and finish Hellgate: London. After all those I'll try to get back to MR GAY, if I have time, its not high on my list.

Hellgate is quite an addictive game despite its flaws. This is only apparent if you play the game, if you just believe reviews your read you wouldn't know this.

Im a gamer, all I needed were some games that I really actually wanted to play for me to make the decision. Anywho I tricked the wifey with the whole "It plays bluray and comes with Spidey 3 thing" also making this my 2 sons christmas present. Lego Starwars and Ratchet and Clank for them. Its already under the tree haha.

This is the same internal logic that is going to take place all over the world as the PS3 price point drops and great games continue to come out, and why after all is said and done PS3 will rule them all once again.

I have a question:

Is UT3 a multiplayer only game? Is there any single player campaign in there at all? And if there is, is it only tacked on as an afterthought?

Reason I ask is because I'm unfamiliar with the series, and I don't really play very many PC games. I'd like to know if it would be worth buying UT3 if I'm more of a "beat-the-game" type player.

If you can answer my question, much thanks to you.

Usually there is a single-player version of the multi-player with bots. However with UT3 they have said that they actually have a single-player campaign that they focused on and spent a lot of time on. SO hopefully it will be good.

its more MP and SP is more of an afterthought. However the SP mode will be more in depth than it has in the past.

It has a single player campaign mode but essentially that's just training for MP. However, unlike campaign in the past, it does a good job of seeming to be seperate from the core gameplay. In other words, they give you characters, a story, explain the world and situation, and give you a long term map with mission objectives. Likewise, people who are unfamiliar with gameplay modes will be given a brief on the objectives or goals before going.

More importantly, the bots. UT has always had great bots, which is likely why Mark Rein suprised everyone when he said over 40% of the users of UT 2004 never took the game online. So there is definate enjoyment both on and offline.

Just keep in mind, this is old school arena shooter. As long as you're not expecting epic story in conjunction with super advanced tactical squadron based gameplay, it's very fun. But if you're looking at the latest generation of shooters (Bioshock, etc) and expecting that from UT, you'll be let down. In essence, expect run 'n gun and it's a blast. If Halo or Timesplitters multiplayer is your bag, this game doesn't disappoint.
