Most of the choices aren't too bad, although given my time with both I'd give RPG of the Year to Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3... although that's probably my GotY too.

It kinda sucked that all the clips of The Orange Box never even showed a wink of Portal.

And yet Portal is the only game from the Orange Box to get an award separate from the Orange Box so......who cares?

Bioshock is GOTY for 360 and Orange box is GOTY for PC despite both being available for both platforms? hehe.

I guess the justification is Orange Box w/ the ability to do mods on PC is better then Bioshock alone?

and "Most Addictive Game Fueled by Dew" what kind of category is that? how bout "best game while high" ? that would be better.

There actually good choices. Bioshock, Mass Effect and Orange Box deserved what they won. Good stuff...i thought Spike TV awards sucked.

Btw, what was so 'breakthrough' about Halo 3? Forge!?

Yes, Forge. And the video recording/editting/sharing helps. and 4 player online co-op is kinda cool too.

not sure how ROck band beat Guitar Hero 3 for the sndtrk. That was the only thing GH3 had going for it.

I love how Bioshock won GotY, but got beaten out in the "Best Shooter" category by Call of Duty 4.

Wouldn't that technically mean that CoD is better than Bioshock?

It does seem silly, but I guess they are saying CoD4 nailed the shooting aspect better, but Bioshock had the better story and atmosphere.

How the hell did Proving Ground show up on the best soundtrack list and skate was nowhere to be found? The soundtrack in that game was sick!

I'm glad that Bioshock won. I love Halo 3, CoD 4, and Orange Box, but Bioshock's story, art design, and gameplay were the best I've ever played. I wish all games were made with the same level of love and care as Bioshock. Bioshock FTW!

Well, first of all, concerning the gaming world, noone really gives a shit what awards spike dose or dosn't hand out. Having said that, the awards given are pretty much the way I expect them to go accross the boards with no ps3 game winning anything other than best ps3 game of the year and Halo 3 winning little more than best MP game of the year, which its lucky to have considering COD4 owns it and bioshock didnt have a mp. As far as time magazine goes they prove that they actually know nothing about video games and completly bought into the hype that surrounded HAlo 3 and said lets do a story on that.
