Microsoft has officially confirmed the North American release date of Lost Odyssey -- Mistwalker's Xbox 360-exclusive RPG -- as February 12, Shacknews reports today. The massive, 4-disc, 50-hour RPG follows the amnesiac immortal Kaim, and tells the thousand-year story of his life, all penned by award-winning novelist Kiyoshi Shigematsu.
Pre-orders for Lost Odyssey from participating retailers will include a special download code, giving players access to a new mission and unlockable weapon. The downloadable content will eventually be made available to everyone, but will remain exclusive to pre-orders for a short while.

Ironically, neither FFXIII or Lost Odyssey will be as good as the "swapp-a-thon" that FFVII was. PS3 games that use more than 10Gb are typically inferior to 360 games, anyways, so the jury is still out whether the $100 and year's wait was worth it for bluray.
I'll gladly swap a disc every 10 hours to play another solid 360 game while I wait another year for the PS3's first RPG worth playing (other than Oblivion, which was old news for me by the time Playstation came out). ;)

So anyword on what these participating retailers will be? I hope it's more then one cause I'm not anxious to walk into Gamestop on the release date and watch them stare at me like I grew a second head for daring to request the preorder bonus I should get for, you know, preordering the game. Cause apparently you only get a preorder bonus from the local Gamestops if you work there and steal them all as soon as they come in. And I'd rather have the actual card instead of Gamestop.com's "preorder the game and we'll email you the code or something. probably."
