We took it for a spin at TGS 07, and were entranced, if just a bit perplexed by the intricacies of the gameplay. As you can see, it's ... well, it's bizarre, allowing you to control a little army of one-eyed dudes by hitting buttons in rhythm and making music. It's just like being a Civil War-era fife player, except with drums. ... Oh, and also, you're insane.

My PSP new game announcment theory, lack of install base considered:
"If a tree falls in the forest, and noone's around to see it, did it really fall at all?"

Wow, more PSPs sold than Xbox 360, PS3, or even Wii. And it's a lack of installed user base?
I really hate to use this insult often but sometimes it can't be helped. You, sir, should be on a Pro Choice pamplet.

Nice job on comparing a handheld with a console. But hey, don't let that stop you from using numbers to prove your point.
That being said, this game looks quite cool.

Nice job completely misunderstanding. Fine, if I MUST drive the point home....
PSP is currently outpacing GBA sales. As in from year of launch. Yet no one talked about the great failure of GBA. And it was alone in the marketplace. PSP is not a failure by any means (and, incidently, this is the first generation ever where handhelds are outpacing consoles so sit on that factoid for a while) and it currently represents 32% of monthly handheld console sales.
So I guess if I really have to point out the fact...
...27 million is NOT a small userbase...
PSP software sales is large enough for developers to continue to support despite three full years of people claiming software doesn't sell on the console.
Obviously some pieces are missing from LilCo187's comment as he made them. Now I ask you, if someone said Wii owners represent a small userbase, would you still be defending his comment?
Ignorance is ignorance. Period. And Ignorance demands a picture on a pro choice pamplet with the subtitle "Do you really want to run the risk of having THIS kid?"

I never said it was a small userbase. In fact, the psp is well worth to develop for. Where you are wrong is that you take two different products (from the same category though), and compare them.
Compare the PSP to the DS and tell me what system you would develop for as a game programmer.
I also NEVER said the psp was a failure, and you will never hear it from my mouth. So don't put them there.

Well well, try to compare the wii userbase with the userbase of the ps3 and 360. There we are.
Now, take your example of the psp and pit it against the DS...
Got the point?
Your argument still sucks. And I advice you to revise your follow-up too, since that one didn't make much sense either.

Hey, smart guy.
I think the word you're looking for is "pamphlet".
I've been waiting to hear when this game will come out for MONTHS!

Hold up, wait up, straight up.... you've seriously lost me, Kite.
I make a reply on the small PSP userbase. Basically I bring up other consoles. I could have gone the route of comparing to DS but as you said, that's a self defeating arguement. Frankly, I don't think any console will achieve what DS has. However, aside from Gameboy and Gameboy Advance, PSP stands from a point where one could draw parallels only to machines widely considered as failures. This is especially true since, up until DS, handhelds have never held a dominating position in the marketplace. This is despite the fact that they were often cheap compared to full on consoles. Not always but often enough to be mentioned. So my choice was essentially either drop down the raw number of users or make comparisons.
In retard logic, 27+ Million looks bad when standing right next to 56+ Million. No matter what, that number is substantially higher and puts my point in an unfavorable position. However, PSP has had a faster adoption rate than other next gen consoles and stands as a winner among that crop. I make comparisons only because 27 million owners is a small userbase. That's 27 million people who might be interested in games announced on a system. Especially when it's coming from the same person who created the cult hit LocoRoco. Getting a US date is important because there are plenty of LocoRoco fans in the US.
As for comparing system install base on which the company should focus on, this seems a moot point since it's coming from Sony itself. And as mentioned before, PSP isn't suffering for users. Just because the console isn't the top seller doesn't mean it's not a seller. That's my point.
Also, sometimes I'm clear in what I'm writing, other times I'm multitasking like a mother.

wow guys...just wow. It's amazing how far a blatently tounge-n-cheek comment will go.
FidliousWong, nice attempt on the whoel "Pro-Choice" joke. I get this feeling you use that alot in frequent situations. Truth is though, I'm probably twice your age. And 27 million doesn't mean anything when half of them are used for paperweights.

The point is. Do NOT compare a handheld with a home console, and it is that which you don't seem to understand. I never shat on the psp as a system, and I do not look at it as being a failure, but my problem solely lies with you and your method of getting your point across. (That will count for you too I guess...)
I do would like to know how you got the info that the psp has the 'fastest adoption rate'. The DS was only released a couple of months before the psp. Or did you just compare your psp with other consoles?
But I will stop this here. We probably just misread or misinterpreted each other comments. I also don't feel like arguing more here. I have the feeling I cluttered this thread enough by just reacting on your...well...reaction.

Insane definitely is the key-word here. What the hell is going on at the end when the big monsters just start flailing around with nothing else on the screen? Maybe those are sweet interludes during the action, probably reminiscent of the acid-flashbacks some are sure to have whilst playing this game.
Oh, and I question this game as a portable solely because people will look at me weirdly when I walk around in public places with this strange music playing along. So what if I refuse to wear headphones? I might miss a call from Pinkie (he's always been there for me).

Dammit! Why not just let us have all PSP games on PSN. I don't want to buy a friggin' PSP just to play the new Clank or God of War games. They're console games anyway, not casual pick up and play on the bus games.
Okay, Patapon is a pick up and play on the bus type rhythm game, but still, I'm cheap...

Lol,1up.
Anyhow most PSP games have horrendously long loading times for example Monster Hunter Freedom, Great game but is almost unplayable, the loading screens kill the game.
Also I have to mention that the quality of the PSPlite is a let down, I dropped the PSP and the UMD door now is broken. I dropped the older version several times by accident but nothing like that ever happened. I guess I will have to call the support center after my XB360 gets repaired, I don’t want to have both systems out in repair at the same time.
