Take a trip back to CBGB and get your anti-authoritarian ideologies polished and scrubbed for this week's
Rock Band downloadable content. Some of the masters of punk (rebels of punk?) are now available for your musical pleasure. The Ramones, The Clash and the Buzzcocks all crash the party on the the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network just like
they were expected to. Only one more week before we enter the void and become pretty much unaware of what songs Harmonix will drop each week for the DLC. Although, if there's a piece of info we missed, be sure to let us know.
Punk Pack - $5.50:
- Rockaway Beach -- The Ramones ($2)
- I Fought the Law -- The Clash ($2)
- Ever Fallen In Love -- Buzzcocks ($2 *Cover*)
After the break we have videos of all the songs above for those not up on their punk. There's The Ramones at the aforementioned CBGBs, The Clash in concert, and the Buzzcocks on what we're guessing is BBC's Top of the Pops (or something similar). No sense in buying music sound unheard.

Goddammit, Harmonix---let me keep a *little* bit of my money, hunh? Let's see an Osmonds pack. A Christopher Cross pack. Heck, even a Van Halen pack---you guys love Van Halen, right? Just *something* that I don't have to buy immediately!!!!
jsn @ Dec 11th 2007 11:40AM
agree completely... more songs just makes the game more fun... at least with guitar hero, the DLC didn't really add anything to the game itself. It was just a matter of whether or not you wanted to play those songs. WIth rock band and the way dlc is integrated into the game, it actually makes the game more fun.
baby sea tuna @ Dec 11th 2007 11:44AM
Dunno...I'd probably still buy Panama if it was available.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Dec 11th 2007 12:10PM
I'd buy Panama in a MINUTE.
And Eruption/You Really Got Me would be a perfect companion to Foreplay/Long Time.
Wonderflex @ Dec 11th 2007 1:40PM
They won't be seeing any of my money until they give out a working controller for the stand-alone PS3 version.
emmzee @ Dec 11th 2007 11:38AM
Ramones! One of the greatest bands of all time! RIP Joey, Johnny, Deedee.

whatever happened to the plan of a full album each week?
baby sea tuna @ Dec 11th 2007 11:44AM
I'm pretty sure they've still got plans for this.
jsn @ Dec 11th 2007 12:02PM
I think they said that's what they'd like to eventually get to, but they're not there yet. Just having weekly DLC is a serious accomplishment.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Dec 11th 2007 12:08PM
Maybe once more copies of RB have been sold? Right now it's only sold in one country.
harveypekar @ Dec 11th 2007 11:44AM
Anyone have any insight into when/if/what new DLC is on the horizon for GH III?
Shagittarius @ Dec 11th 2007 12:00PM
The Halo 3 theme song isnt enough for you? sheesh!
gonk @ Dec 11th 2007 12:18PM
where's our metallica pack?
and the guitar on the halo song was way too quiet
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Dec 11th 2007 12:48PM
Halo Theme roxxors.
T3H WICKERMAN (FDF) @ Dec 11th 2007 1:34PM
love the name, so you will appreciate the luck you will have with that dlc. Just get rid of it and get rockband.
baby sea tuna @ Dec 11th 2007 2:56PM
Seriously, y'all GHIII heads backed the wrong horse.
harveypekar @ Dec 11th 2007 5:03PM
actually, i had RB on launch day and took it back in favor of GH III
...should have probly just sold it on ebay tho'
Brian Ibbott @ Dec 11th 2007 12:04PM
Technically, that "I Fought the Law" track is a cover, too. The Crickets were the originals, and then the Bobby Fuller Four made it a hit long before the Clash put their own fantastic stamp on it. (not to mention Green Day's note-for-note cover)
why not the LS2LS7? @ Dec 11th 2007 12:30PM
You're gonna be a lot of fun when the Elvis songs start showing up...
Brian Ibbott @ Dec 11th 2007 12:57PM
heh, heh. I actually had sarcastic "anal-retentive music snob" tags in my original post, but the comment system stripped them out.
I'm the host of a Cover Song-focused podcast called Coverville, so this is in my blood. But I'll shut up when "Burning Love" makes its appearance in the DLC...
AstroZombie @ Dec 11th 2007 1:12PM
Don't forget Dead Kennedys!
why not the LS2LS7? @ Dec 11th 2007 1:50PM
subscribed.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Dec 11th 2007 12:04PM
Oh man. I so want to frag my fingers trying to play Ever Fallen in Love, but it's a cover! That sucks! I wish I could hear it first, I'd still buy it if it sounds half-decent.
For all I know the cover sounds like the Fine Young Cannibals version...
Ethan @ Dec 11th 2007 12:11PM
You're right about the buzzcocks. It's an amazing performance.
i_hate_mtv @ Dec 11th 2007 6:59PM
Ever Fallen in Love is not a cover song.
Emperor Samoth @ Dec 11th 2007 12:05PM
The RAMONES!!! Yeahrghhhhh!!!! Awesome.
Noel @ Dec 11th 2007 12:13PM
It's uncomfortable to see bands you actually like lip syncing. Damn you TOTP.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Dec 11th 2007 12:22PM
Indeed. It was apparent and annoying after only 3 words. Too bad.
What's with the Flying V headstock on the lead singer's Les Paul?
Jason @ Dec 11th 2007 12:22PM
I could really go for Pantera, and Rage Against the Machine packs. A Blood Sugar Sex Magic full album would go along way too... a really long way.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Dec 11th 2007 12:50PM
God, I freaking hate Rage. By all means, make rage DLC. But I just can't stand any of their songs in any of the GH games.
AstroZombie @ Dec 11th 2007 1:14PM
That's because you're a right-wing nutjob, Crono, ya big silly! j/k
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Dec 11th 2007 1:50PM
Its not what they sing about, but their style.
But yeah, it doesn't help that I think they're idiots as well.
Burritoclock @ Dec 11th 2007 3:50PM
Don't forget hypocrites as well.
Nothing like a damn dirty communist rocking out next to a ginormous pepsi banner...
Keith @ Dec 11th 2007 12:23PM
THIS is the Punk Pack?
Weak as hell!
I was looking forward to this but screw that.
we want Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Dead Kennedys, Misfits, maybe some new stuff like
NOFX, rise against, the lawrence arms.
the punk pack is wack!
Norm @ Dec 11th 2007 12:36PM
Sounds like a little kid needs to go to school.
Keith @ Dec 11th 2007 12:50PM
@ NORM
actually "Norm" I am 29.
one year older than you.
and I'm at work. jag off
INotI @ Dec 11th 2007 12:59PM
Classic British Punk = Great
US Hardcore & 90s Mallpunk = Shit
ck @ Dec 11th 2007 1:26PM
I'm sorry but if you cannot understand the greatness of far-reaching and very influential (to Black Flag, Rise Against, NOFX, Dead Kennedys and the Misfits, mind you) bands like the Ramones, Buzzcocks and the Clash - then you shouldn't be bitching about 'true' punk rock (if there is such a thing).
Keith @ Dec 11th 2007 1:34PM
I understand the greatness. but arent these bands in guitar hero 2 and 3. ok then, give me some Crass, or Germs or Cocksparrer, ANYTHING but the Ramones and Clash. We already have these bands. i was just expecting more songs and different bands.
T3H WICKERMAN (FDF) @ Dec 11th 2007 1:38PM
rage is mass marketed corporate drivel. These bands created "punk" as you know it. There is truth in the title. Not like it said punk and was full of greenday, screeching weasel or blink 182 trash.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Dec 11th 2007 2:01PM
I have no problem with the newer stuff you mentioned, but saying these bands aren't punk makes you look like a fool.
If you asked Black Flag, The Dead Kennedys, The Misfits or Circle Jerks if the Ramones or Clash were punk, they'd have a very definitive answer for you.
Me, I'd love to see some Rancid in there. And even semi-punk types like Bad Religion.
Keith @ Dec 11th 2007 2:11PM
i didn't say those bands were not punk. I guess i was looking for something different from the ramones and clash which are already playable in these games.
baby sea tuna @ Dec 11th 2007 2:59PM
Dude's right about The Lawrence Arms. Those guys fucking rock. Throw some Thermals in there while we're at it!
i_hate_mtv @ Dec 11th 2007 7:02PM
I like Screeching Weasel, and even some Green Day (not their newer shit). However, the latter band is not punk. They're way too commercial and they lack the attitude (see 'Road to Acceptance' on their first album).
Kevin @ Dec 11th 2007 12:25PM
I will not be happy until I get some 311!!!!!!
Jason @ Dec 11th 2007 12:56PM
hell yeah, Chad's drumming would be awesome to 'try" to play.
Kevin @ Dec 11th 2007 1:51PM
I've been saying all along that Beautiful Disaster would be a great Rock Band song. Dueling guitars, heavy riffs, and drum fills.... So nice!
Wake Your Mind Up would be another good one.
Chad's drumming would be hard to do!!
Imagine if they did Applied Science!! YIKES!!!
baby sea tuna @ Dec 11th 2007 3:01PM
Ugh, 311 is terrible. Then again, they did kick that douche from Creed's ass, so I guess they get a pass.
As long as I don't have to listen to them.
