Rumor: PSP Silent Hill being ported to PS2
So get this: Konami made a (by most accounts) pretty good game called Silent Hill Origins for the PSP, and according to a Kotaku tipster, the company will be moving the game to the PS2 in March 2008! Making a port of a decent game from a well-regarded franchise for a system with 120 million units sold worldwide, can you believe it? ... Yes, so can we.
As we said, this hasn't been confirmed by Konami, but it seems like one of two things would be happening right now. Either they are porting SHO to the PS2, or they've seen this story on the internet, fired the guy in charge of thinking of things like this and are in the preliminary stages of porting SHO to the PS2. Either way, we'd bet that you'll hear more about it soon.

If this turns out to be true it doesn't suprise me. If Konami ported it to ps2 they could achieve more sales on it than psp.
MariosInferno @ Dec 11th 2007 1:27PM
True...all Konami wants are the additional sales...
That, and, this is good news for fans of the series. As good a game as it is for the PSP, I simply cannot get into it like other Silent Hill games (4 excluded). Silent Hill is all about atmosphere, and it just isn't as immersive on a portable. Silent Hill is best left to the consoles where you can kill the lights, kick up the surround sound and be scared shitless for a few hours.

psp---->ps2----->wii
ViagraFiend @ Dec 11th 2007 10:35AM
It would be so awesome to have to shake the wiimote to open doors. How immersive!

LOL, something funny about a guy who's name is BM talking about 'Butthurt'.
bm @ Dec 11th 2007 12:45PM
Ooooh BURN! not lol
Shaggi, dude, it's like you're not even trying anymore. I know you've only got the brain capacity for one single joke that you keep repeating like the retard that you are, but man, at least put some effort into its delivery. You can do better!

Not a direct port, I hope.
I mean, the game was good for the PSP... but since it's being ported to a console, they could flesh out the story(no pun intended)a bit more. Maybe offer varied modes to play or even a gallery/dossier on well-known places, creatures & characters of SILENT HILL 0RIGINS.

that pic is going to give me nightmares tonight....
Almadi @ Dec 11th 2007 11:05AM
Wouldn't this hurt the PSP game sales? And thus hurt PSP console sales. The PSP needs every exclusive it can get.
ssuk @ Dec 11th 2007 11:35AM
Like Konami cares, they're in for the money, not to sell PSPs.
Plus, it expands the user-base of the game. There are a lot of PS2s out there in comparison to the PSP, and with a Silent Hill game, you'd rather want to sit down in a dark room, volume up on a nice big screen. Maybe a home cinema unit, some popcorn and some easily scared friends to jump at scary things for more fun.

Actually if those damn cables were avlible outside of Japan(Nice Sony,Ignore the rest of the world ******bags)anyone would be able to play SH:O in HD.
You know I have never seen a succesful PSP port ever, maybe the original GTA:LCS but other than that I have never seen a PSP-Ps2 port in the top of the sales chart ever.
Konami is currently porting yu-gi-oh Tag force 1 into the Ps2 so that could mean that SH:O is also going to be ported and I don't know why but that gives me the idea that MGS4 is going to be ported to the XBOX360.
sinergy @ Dec 11th 2007 11:59AM
keep dreaming about that mgs4 port to the 360 :)
Karen @ Dec 11th 2007 12:08PM
@Mr.ESC are you talking about the PSP component cables? Because they are available in most stores for $20.
Mr.ESC @ Dec 11th 2007 12:59PM
Huh then why the hell aren't those avalible here,Oh dammit.
Karen @ Dec 11th 2007 4:10PM
Where is here? I'm in Canada and have seen them in stores.
EternityInBlack @ Dec 11th 2007 11:32AM
Just like GTA (insert city here) Stories, Syphon Filter and, most probably, God of War PSP. No surprise here...
Mr.ESC @ Dec 11th 2007 11:42AM
Syphon filter ?_? ?
Huh good thing I got Castlevania Dracula X instead but tell me who started the rumor,if it was kotaku I call BS because Kotakeew rumor control just sucks (Insert a part of the human body here) they said this game was canned months ago.
bm @ Dec 11th 2007 11:35AM
YES
YES
YESSSSS
Abscissa @ Dec 11th 2007 3:15PM
I hope this is true, that would be a really cool precedent. Other games I'd like to see ported from PSP to PS2:
- Splinter Cell Essentials
- Dracula X
- Lemmings
- Ghosts n Goblins (Or is it Ghouls n Ghosts?)
- Loco Roco
- Crush
- Mega Man Powered Up
Geist @ Dec 11th 2007 5:26PM
I totally want that tribal music game on my PS2 now.
Geist @ Dec 11th 2007 5:26PM
Wewt! No PSP-borrowing for me!
