With the sexy new revision and lots of solid titles, the PSP has become more and more desirable as of late. But believe us when we tell you it's peanuts compared to how useful the thing has become in Japan, where only the lack of a blond mullet keeps it from being the MacGyver of consumer electronics. Adding insult to injury, it's getting even cooler in Japan with firmware version 3.80, which will add TV program recording and internet radio features to the device.
While we're hopeful internet radio could be rolled out across the globe, don't even think about adding DVR functionality to your PSP, as we still lack the 1seg technology here that makes the whole thing go. Oh well, at least you can (fingers crossed) look forward to the internet radio feature. Check out some images of it in action right here.

MacGyver. No "U".
What do the "C" "B" and "P" buttons mean?

Look, just because the balloon people have committed historical crimes, does not mean I can be held responsible for my ancestor's mistakes. Reverse Balloon prejudice is real and prevalent in our society.

Fancy. There's a shoutcast homebrew app that works pretty well, but I'm interested to see if the official system makes it to the US. Having both as options is superior to only one.

I've been considering getting a PS3 lately, not because of it's extensive list of exclusive AAA titles (yeah, right), but because of all the multimedia features that it offers. It's a Blu-Ray player, a web browser, a media streamer (DivX support coming) with external HDD support, internet radio capabilities, DVR functions coming (reportedly), and a decent $600 Linux box.
Oh, and you can also play some buggy ports of Xbox 360 games.

yeah. it totally sucks that there aren't a huge amount of good games for my PS3, HOWEVER, why would they bring out a crappy firmware update for DVR/Internet Radio on the stupid PSP BEFORE they update those functionalities for the PS3!?!! At least it'd be of some use other than renting BluRay movies from Blockbuster and playing WarHawk, Uncharted, and R&C.

Because the PSP has the 1seg network shooting video at it already and the PS3 doesn't have a dedicated broadcast video service of it's own yet. Since its only official video source is the PSN, which is just download anyway, there's no reason to add DVR capability to it. Sites like gamersyde are nice enough to host HD(-ish, not always standard resolution) MP4 videos for damn near all of their game articles, but those are also just downloads.
