Rumour: Brits head to France for Wii
Are England's gamers Chunneling their way to Wii ownership? They are according to British tabloid The Daily Mirror, which reports that the English are desperate enough for their Wii's to travel to another country for them.
According to the Mirror, the French city of Calais has seen British shoppers lining up outside of its electronics stores to snag the oft-coveted console. The Channel Tunnel train arrives in France near the coastal city, where many shops have instituted a "oneoui Wii per customer" policy. Despite the shortages seen in the States and in England, the Nintendo Wii can still be readily found in France. Good news for the English. And how nice for the French, too!

Anticrawl @ Dec 12th 2007 9:07PM
I think the picture for this post would have been SOOOOOO much better if it had a little bubble coming from the train that said "Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!"
Hahaha

Hehe, my Irish biology teacher is trying to get a hold of a Wii here in England, for her cousin back in Ireland. Apparently there's few to be found there. Ah well, I've had mine for about a year now, so I'm happy :)
Rew @ Dec 12th 2007 6:57PM
Yeah they cann't be got anywhere in here Ireland and the DS is the same. Alot of people are buying them online from other European countries. Looks like its going to be a Nintendo Christmas. Thee are 2 DS's being given s presents in my family (and I already have one) and some Wii games as well for the 2 Wii's that my brother and I have.
Obie @ Dec 12th 2007 6:37PM

ThornedVenom @ Dec 12th 2007 7:22PM
The French, not the Kiwis!
Trickob @ Dec 12th 2007 7:33PM
(that's how you say "yes" in french?? how do you say "no?" doo doo?
excuse me, i need to go take a wicked yes!)
Obie @ Dec 12th 2007 7:45PM
No in French = No
Example: Trickob: Hey sexy French maid, wanna dust my loins?
Sexy French Maid:......no.
Trickob @ Dec 12th 2007 10:27PM
you clearly do not recognize a "family guy" quote when you see one.
Dio @ Dec 12th 2007 10:39PM
It's spelled non but pronounced "no", lol
sure @ Dec 13th 2007 5:23AM
"Oui". not Qui.
AirIntake @ Dec 12th 2007 6:45PM
I wish Nintendo would actually try to manufacture some of these things so I could pick one up for my girlfriend. Oh well, their loss, I'll still find a gift that gets me some good lovin'.
mr nimblewick (SegaDF - Jogurt Ring) @ Dec 12th 2007 7:19PM
I know, right? Even I could make 1.8 million a month.
Vexorg @ Dec 12th 2007 6:47PM

sifer2400 @ Dec 12th 2007 7:01PM
i heard form a certain podcast that if they build a new factory and the demand slows down such as is happing in japan then they will have wasted there money EX gamecube
Joshua @ Dec 12th 2007 7:05PM
But...Wouldn't it be in French?
Chaotic @ Dec 12th 2007 7:13PM
The Wii lets you choose the language it will use when you first set it up. Even if it starts in French, you can change it.
Greg2k @ Dec 12th 2007 7:17PM
Uh, no. You just choose the language you want and you're set. Manuals are in every language spoken in Europe. The ONLY issue would be the power plug; issue easily fixed with the use of an adapter.
Bellerophon @ Dec 12th 2007 7:17PM
Normally I'd laugh at a story of The Mirror having any real credibility, but seeing as I spent the day going through at least ten stores to find my kids a Wii and went home emptyhanded, they're probably right.
Now to book my Eurostar ticket...
Phillip @ Dec 13th 2007 1:13PM
Man, not only do the Brits have to wait for stuff, but now they have to go to France for stuff. I feel sorry for all of you across the pond.
But now the French are actually good for something...
ThornedVenom @ Dec 12th 2007 7:23PM
More money for French retailers. =)
HighFiveJesus @ Dec 12th 2007 7:50PM
Thats rumour with a u for the americaun audience.
dan @ Dec 13th 2007 12:17AM
you always make me smile with your photoshops....
Paviel @ Dec 13th 2007 12:45AM
Nintendo Oui...
Hmm... Is Nintendo doing as well in France as elsewhere? It'd be downright awesome if the French thought so highly of the "Nintendo Yes"...
Come to think of it, that would be a pretty good strategy for naming your consoles. There is no shortage of foreign words for yes, and the vast majority of them are as easy to pronounce as "Wii"...
Jazza @ Dec 13th 2007 2:40AM
Amazon.de has them in stock as well, and ship to the UK
MeLeNaS @ Dec 13th 2007 3:23AM
Hey you brits, you can also come over to Spain to buy your Wii. I've seen loads of them in shops :)
Jamar @ Dec 13th 2007 4:45AM
Also, China has loads, and they're pre-modded too! Great if you play games across regions a lot or if you want to play DVDs in your Wii (seriously, why won't Nintendo do this first-party?).
Jon @ Dec 13th 2007 5:42AM
I like how the title refers to Brits but the article makes no mention of them, only the English.
Admiral_Mike @ Dec 13th 2007 5:59AM
It imports money!
