Nyko is releasing a second version of its PS3 controller charge station and it's the bomb. Actually, it looks more like a bomb detonator. The company says the Charge Base 2 has a faster recharge rate and comes with two light-weight Mini USB adaptors that attach to the controller and "allow for easy drop and charge functionality."
The price of the unit is $30 and should be available now at retailers. So if you've got extra AC plugs about the place and just can't be bothered with plugging your Sixaxis into the PS3, here's another option.

I think it looks great. For my taste the Nyko people could have made it look even more like a prop from Die Hard :)

Good grief... wtf? It's not even that big. It's a controller charger... no different than any other chargers out there. The 4-slot charge is fairly big, but then again it charges 4 controllers.
As for why people would buy it instead of using the cable... well, obviously, because the PS3 doesn't charge controllers while the system is off.

I use my 360 to charge my ps3 controller through one of the front usb ports since they have juice even when the system is off.

I use my computer to charge my controller when I'm done playing, that way I can play some emulated snes games on an actual controller.

Its always a battle around our house to find a way to hide all of the controllers. Then when I see these docks I get excited about having a storage solution...then on second glance I notice they are uglier and more high profile than the controllers in the first place, and the cycle continues.
I really wish there was a solution that didn't display the controllers like they were art.

anyway seems it can store your controllers if they're under four, maybe you have to gotta one for wireless controllers, they sounds more attractive,it's innovative.good job,for i don't wanna mess up my room with some cables when i'm playing.
i'd like to buy another smarter one instead of this big, though ugly, check two controllers charger

Or, buy a second cable just like the included cable. With the amazing ability to place in any position you like.
