The LA Times reports today that a truck with over 1,000 boxes of Rock Band was hijacked last weekend. The robbers kidnapped the truck driver, held him at gunpoint while they unloaded the truck and then released him after the deed was done. For those interested in the math, the thieves got away with $170,000 worth of merchandise.
According to authorities the circumstances of this hijack are very rare, as the thieves actually kidnapped the driver and drove around for an hour -- the kidnapping charges carry a life sentence. Our big question: How do you inconspicuously store and fence 1,000 Rock Band boxes? May we suggest checking the Canadian border? We hear they're getting a little desperate up there.

I bet you they only needed some extra guitars for the 3 version of Rock Band. Look at what you've done, Activision!

The way those guitars break 1,00 would last you about 2 weeks.

How many fully functional drum sets do you think you get out of 1,000?

They aren't shipping the guitars that break yet. And I know some people have had problems, but the drums seem solid.
I have 3 friends with first day RBs and all of us had to get our guitars replaced, but no problems with drums.

It never ceases to amaze me in reading criminal stories like this. I mean, really... hijacking a truck for ROCK BAND of all things?
At least steal something with higher resale value or memorably better. That way, "pound-you-in-the-ass prison" won't be so bad when you get caught. Or do society a favor and just take your own life instead of going to jail or killing/harming innocent others.

when you hijack a truck usually you dont know whats in it...its a gamble..sometimes it can be toilet paper..other times it can be consoles....but anything regardless of what it is can be sold....knowing how dumb some criminals are...i bet there is a craigs list listing for rock band 100 bucks..get them while they last...

Well, my guess is they were hoping for Wiis, ps3s, or 360s. It is horrible this happened and I hope they catch them. Which the authorities probably will as they will probably list a huge amount of them on eBay at the same time.
But I can't help but wonder, if the truck was full of GH3, would the thieves have left them there and apologized to the driver for the trouble?
Yes, I know I am a bad person.

SHIIIITTTT!!
I just got this message from Amazon:
"Unfortunately, we've learned that we will not be receiving the quantity we expected from our supplier. As a result, we have cancelled this item from your order........We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this
cancellation. An unexpected manufacturer delay has meant that availability of this title has been severely limited for all retailers."
Fuck those Thieves. I hope they rot in RockBand Hell..
On second though..send me to Rockband Hell - maybe I'll get to play the drums there while I'm burning up

Lies.
First, Amazon.com doesn't cancel orders, they notify you of the delay and have you confirm if you wish to keep the order or not. Second, Amazon.com got their second set in last week and sent them out. I got mine on Monday from Amazon.com.
@Kinger, more than likely was of multiple platforms.

But it's not a lie. That's the email I just got. They completely removed RockBand from my cart and recently ordered items. I even called them. They were all apologetic and would not confirm whether it was because of the robbery. An unexpected manufacturer delay? severely limited for all retailers? My guess it's That's it.

Do you guys think it was all for one console? I ordered the PS2 version.. If it's coming right from the factory, i would imagine it's for all different consoles no?

Definitely Rock Star behaviour.
Do you think they'll let them play one set to "I Fought The Law" in prison?
