Perhaps this can be considered a lesson for game developers eager to deliver tomorrow's game technology today: Crysis hit the PC market with an exoskeleton-enhanced thud. The critically praised -- but processing intensive -- title sold a disappointing 86,633 units in the States following its Nov. 13 release.
Holding hands with Crysis is Epic's Unreal Tournament 3 which sold an even more disappointing 33,995 units following its Nov. 19 release. Although not a pixel pushing monster on the level of say, oh ... Crysis, the Unreal Engine 3 game is still a beast in an already crowded genre. At the very least UT3 will make up some sales with the recently released PS3 version and the future Xbox 360 version.
We're ready for that Crysis console announcement whenever you are, EA.

Well, you can't really blame UT3. It is on the PS3 after all. LOL!!!!
But seriously, I am interested in seeing if UT3 for the 360 has any drastic differences in terms of sales, after seeing this.

Yeah, you're a complete moron for even entertaining the idea that putting a game on a system that has sold more units, would sell more copies of the game.
Shame on you.

We are talking PC sales, how does this have anything to do with PS3 or 360?

Yeah I agree with Draco and Fatass that Blue Falcon is a Moron.

Agreed - Blue Falcon is illiterate or such and advanced case of ADD, he can't even read a paragraph.

I honestly don't think even pirating had anything to do with these poor sales.

Yeah, I think the poor sales have more to do with the inability of peoples' computers to run these games well. I mean, it's great and all to push the envelope, but if you push it too far no one can even play your game.

I'd bet there are more pirated copies of the game being used then legit ones. On my floor in my dorm there are maybe 7 copies of Crysis - only one of these guys actually bought the game.

This game is geared towards the same class of people who pirate their games, hard hard core PC gamers (Hard core PC gamers = Hard core console gamers x 1.75)
the average consumer and the casual are the ones that buy games, the hard core don't generally, unless there is no option to play online without purchase. thats why I think Steam is a very important step in the PC game industry.

yeah
plus a lot of people wouldn't buy crysis anyway, since their comps can't run it too well, but if it's free they'll suffer through some stuttering for the experience

I love how people who clearly aren't PC gamers, who probably use computers their parents bought them to talk about shit they don't know on a gaming blog, talk about how difficult it is to run Crysis.
On low settings, Crysis looks better than Halo-- there, I said it, fuckers-- and can run on just about any recent PC with a decent graphics card. On medium settings, it looks better than almost any other PC game, and can run at 60+ FPS on just about any gaming rig. For those who want to spend the money: on high, it is unrivaled, and on very high, it is unrivaled for another year or so. It's the best possible way they could have done it.

That isnt the point jeff, we all know it looks good but im not paying £40 to play a game on low settings and have to buy a new PC to play it on High.

Yeah, that game got blotted out by the shadows colossal AAA titles this year. 360 owners have Halo 3, PC owners have an unbroken Team Fortress 2 and PS3 owner have Warhawk.
Nobody cares.

I played it on a computer where the resolution has to be turned way down and I have to say.. The vehicles handle wonderfully. They're a lot better than the ones in UT2004.

Yeah honestly, the vehicles handle perfectly now. I hated the vehicles in 2k4; it's all a matter of opinion.

With the glut of FPS games that came out this fall, there were bound to be some high-profile losers.
Between Master Chief, the Modern Army and Gordon Freeman's troupe, who has time for anything else?
If only UT waited until 2008...if only Crysis waited until....uh, 2010.

Isn't it incredible what happens when only one gamemaker has an advertising budget?
Wait, what? They all do?
Oh, hell, your argument fails, jm. Sorry dude.

I don't mean as a whole genre, but people are starting to be like, "OK, there are so many of these games out there, I'm just going to stick with a couple of them that I know I really like." The market is way too oversaturated, and the experience offered is mostly the same between all the "different" games.
