The blending of the PS2 and PSP continues as PSP's Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters appears to be marked for PS2 release early next year. A GameStop listing says the game is expected Feb. 12, '08 for $30, but consider this a placeholder for now.
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters would join a solid list of games that made the jump from PSP to the PS2. Most famously at this point are the ports of GTA: Vice City Stories and GTA: Liberty City Stories, both of which ended up on the PS2 at the delicious consumer-friendly price of $20. We wouldn't mind seeing God of War: Chains of Olympus make the PS2 leap by holiday '08 -- but let's just get the thing out on PSP first.

A strange, symbiotic relationship the PSP, PS2 and Wii have, feeding off eachother to become stronger...
Quick! Somebody equip the 360 and PS3 with sonic weapons!!

As long as they give the game updated visuals and/or add extra material, this game could merit purchase. I just hope the people who ported Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror aren't handling this port (whoever decided to take stuff out of the game for the PS2 port deserves a kick in the nads).

Haha, I read a review on this game (PSP on the way) and they said "you get that feeling a PS2 port is on the way" with a slew of commentors saying it'll never happen.

In a world were the newest and hottest games are suppose to be on current gen systems, Sony can't even rely on a 1st party title to stay exclusive to just one system. So now they're gonna put it in a system of theirs that everyone (even I) has had for about 7 years now.

The PS2 has had its glory years, but its great to see its still supported unlike the Xbox. THIS is what Sony means by their 10 year cycle for the PS3 for some of you that somehow think that this will be their only console for 10 years. The PS1 was still supported after the PS2 launched as well, though the PS2 also had a slow start like the PS3 for some of you that don't remember.

Only reason PS2 is still going on strong because not everyone is ready to jump to the current generation of consoles either due to costs (PS3), reliability (360), or availability (Wii). Or maybe there's just no desire to buy a new machine as long as they can get Guitar Hero and Madden on PS2. [shrugs]
Since Microsoft continued to lose money on Xbox (and could never make the system profitable, due to not having the rights to all the components), they had to jump ship if they ever wanted to make money. Plus, getting a start ahead of Sony would give them an advantage.
Nintendo made profit off of the GameCube, but it was still a dying system, and they tried something different which has, so far at least, payed off very well.
PS2 is able to go on because there's already so many who have one (About 120 million-ish worldwide). Because of this, many developers still see it as a viable platform. Which kinda hurts the current generation of consoles.

Kamall, you DO understand that if Sony has anything less than first place in market share by, say, 2011, their "10 year plan" is going to be scrapped faster than who knows what.
The only reason the PS2 is still going is the same reasons the NES, SNES and PS1 were kept going so long after their prime – they have a commanding market share and people will continue making games for those systems. as a result

I've been considering getting a PSP just for R&C: SM. If this turns out to be true, I'll just wait and play it on my 60gb. Hope they consider porting Dexter as well. That's another PSP title I'd like to play.

Everyone saw that one coming from a mile away.
I'm a PSP fanboy but I never really care about Ratchet and clank, I don’t know why but the series just feel cheap and if you ask me is not a big loss for the PSP.
Now that SH:0 well now that would be a loss.
