> the 360 controller already is great for fps's

LoL. Because you can't compare. Because you never were wiped-floor-with battling against opponent with superior controls. (*)

Since everybody uses 360 controller - play field is leveled. But try to port your console experience to PC - and try to play 360 controller after you have played with mouse... Difference is like "earth and heaven".

(*) I went thru this when PCs just got mice and Doom2 supported it all: keyboard, joystick & mouse controls. I was starting with keyboard. People with joysticks targeted slightly better. Later coming people with mouse fragged everybody else 5 to 1. That what I call an argument. WASD+mouse was settles within few months (1997 it was?) and in few years all FPS games switched to it up too.

If they make a controller that is far superior for FPS games, it will completely ruin the market. FPS games are fun on XBOX 360 because everyone is on a level playing filed controller-wise, and the controller is very good. If better controllers are added into the mix, it will be like driving games where you have to spend $100 on a controller to have a reasonable shot at winning online.

There are enough 360s out there that they could stand to have extra playlists on games like Halo 3 and COD4 for people with better controllers but it would kill niche games.

Microsoft is only number 2 worldwide. In North America and the UK its number 1. So personally I satisfied with my Xbox 360 leading in the English speaking countries than the rest of the world. :p
