If the Japanese hardware sales chart is the first thing to pop into your mind (and search engine) on a beautiful Saturday morning, you may feel compelled to question the priorities in your life. You may even wrestle with the word "life" itself, perhaps bumping it down a notch to "existence" and appending adjectives like "sad" and/or "meaningless." We're here to eliminate those impulses though, reminding you that there's no shame in being completely obsessed with the video game purchases of a foreign culture.
After all, there's some loser who woke up on Saturday morning (thanks, Flying Alarm Clock!) just to pull that rubbish out of a custom spreadsheet and post it on a website.

I'm new here, but isn't this where I point out that the sales of two of the current-gen consoles duct-taped together doesn't beat the sales of the other?
The Xbox 360 is the winner! It has a bigger sales % increase than the PS3! I mean, that is what Sony said in the USA so PS3 fanboys HAVE to accept it as truth, Xbox 360 is going to win Japan.
Nintendo rules all! See? They're selling faster than anything ever made before, even water in the desert. Nintendo World Domination and Fernando for President!
The PS3 is still the best, all those Japanese people are just too stupid to realize it. It is infinite fun, why can't they get that through their heads? BluRay makes it teh winnar, because big stuff means its better. Just look at the Toyota Tundra, that is totally a better vehicle than anything that is smaller than it.
Just wait for Heavenly Sword! Just wait for Lair! Just wait for Rachet and Clank! Which could give Mario Galaxy a run for its money! Just wait for a price drop! Just wait for a rumbling controller! Just wait for Home!
I'm sure there have been more "Just wait for" items and moments. I mentally kept track of them but I'm dosed up on migraine tablets to remember or spell much.
I like the system. I was given a PS3 as a gift and I sold on my 360. But Christ can the fans go on about waiting! I want to play something today dammit!
Apparently, Sony Fanboys favorite phrase is "just wait until... ". Poor little guys... still can't they find a game to justify the purchase of the PS3. Oh well, they can keep their Bluray movies, and I keep my Wii360 games.
That one gave me a good chuckle. I love watching each "messiah game" come and go. I like the PS3 (actually, I like games, don't give a rat's ass which console they're on), but I still get a kick out of its fanatics.
I want to know what all those people buying PS3s are doing with them, or at least have been doing with them before they got a couple good games in the past month or so.
For most of this year I see pretty much the same amount of good PS3 exclusives as I do 360 exclusives. I can play Bioshock on the PC, primarily leaving Halo 3 and Mass Effect... hardly a windfall of exclusive games compared to Tekken 5 online, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet, Uncharted etc...
As for the 3rd party stuff: while admittedly the 360 version is "better" for a few titles (mostly EA's stuff, like Orange Box) for the most part the difference is negligible (Skate) or non-existent (Rock Band, COD4).
Now this is the part where you exaggerate some random small problem on the PS3 to show 360 superiority (Ex: but GH3 controllers don't work with rock band!). Then I bring up how at least people can use standard bluetooth peripherals and standard, non-overpriced hard drives with the PS3. Then you bring up how LIve is better. Then I bring up how you have to pay $50 just to play online. Then you bring up some other thing. Then I mention RROD. And then Blu-ray something or other. And it goes on forever.
Playing PS2 games mostly.... Came off my WoW addiction and caught up on a lot of games for the PS2. Then Ninja Gaiden Sigma came out and Oblivion drop in price. The rest is history.
Playing Rock Band every night... Played a song with a friend online for a few minutes... Some Call of Duty 4... Not much Warhawk since CoD4. Going to play Uncharted next week after I play some Assassin's Creed on the 360. While not gaming on it, or if I'm playing a game on my 360, I leave it on folding. I was at my mom's house in California, streaming the movie 'Idiocracy' (stored on my PS3's harddrive) over the internet to my PSP using the PS3's remote play. Plus I did some weird thing where I can go into 'start video chat' mode on the PS3 and had a web cam (actually, I used my 360's usb cam, supported by the PS3) looking into my NYC apartment over the remote play connection. Back at home, I watched 'Battlestar Galactica: Razor' off of a usb thumbdrive plugged in the front of the PS3. I just watched the blu ray of "The Prestige' and the 'Goodfellas' blu ray just arrived from Amazon yesterday.
That's the stuff I do with mine. I'm going into detail because I'm just pointing out some of the strange little things the PS3 does and supports. Is it necessary? Do I game on it more than my 360? No, but it's tweaky and interesting to me. I'm not ONLY into gaming so I like the PS3 too.
Adding blueray to the PS3 may have delayed it by a year and doubled the price.. costing it this generation of the console war, but its still the cheapest Blueray player, and that may have won them the next-gen video disc war.
How much that is worth is still unclear though, i don't know a single person who has blueray OR hd-dvd.. and most of the people I know are still buying DVDs this xmas.
I think HD downloads might make the blueray victory kinda short.

You know Joystiq, how we as gamers complain when a game has bugs and glitches that were not fixed before the release? I mean, I am just saying. Not as easy as "just find everything wrong and make sure it works."
But seriously, would you fix the reply system already? I mean, how long has this been up and broken? Like six to 12 months or something?
wow, how good is it to know how dedicate Playstation "gamers" are. Well, while you are Waiting like most your campers do the last few years, most people who are sane enough not to wait= because they are true gamers, they already played CoD2, Dead Rising, Oblivion, Condemned, Gears Of War, and so on. And for those who did wait they already got tons of great games that they can choose from: exclusives n non-exclusives ones.
If those ps3 only games are really that great it will sell more; so when they aren't selling like most of you in forums hoped too- they are not great games. Just another releases.
Admit it, most people who bought ps3 use it for the media capablities- not gaming.
Or maybe "real" gamers were playing games like Okami, Zelda TP, God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, FFXII, MGS 3 Subsistence... and not the meh-to-crap games you mentioned.
And since you think sales = quality, have fun listening to your Josh Groban CD.
