Fun Fact: My mom used to be the bank accountant for Devo.

That's about as close to knowing a celebrity as I've ever got.
...although I met Cindy Crawford at a mall once, too.

Damn...coolest famous person I ever met was Weird Al Yankovic...it was back when he had the moustache and enormous glasses, so yes, he was cool. I've never met Devo but I have met (very briefly) the members of POLYSICS, which is very similar, only way more Japanese. Good music.

Once again, publishers and developers focus millions and millions of dollars to create an amazing virtual world, and forget that what they should be creating is an amazing *game*. The gameplay of the original Bionic Commando was simplicity itself. This does not look simple. This looks a mess gameplay-wise. When trying to recapture a classic, why don't more companies focus on the original strengths and just spice it up a little bit with 3-d objects and great animation.

Not every game works well over-the-shoulder (Sonic the Hedgehog for an example)

Isn't part of satisfaction in gaming nowadays to get ahead of the learning curve and enjoy a deep form of gameplay that adds to the replay value? I seriously cannot for the life of me play old 2D games anymore. They seem very tedious to me now. The rewards aren't there anymore.

You can have an amazing game and still have it be complex. It's just a matter of how intuitive that complexity is.
I can think of a number of games with complex controls and still have, in my opinion, awesome gameplay.

I'm not anti-complexity, just anti-unneccessary-3d-remakes. I always think of the awful Castlevania game on N64, of exactly what's wrong with the concept. The new Prince of Persia games seem to go a good job of melding some simple plane-based gameplay (ie 2d) and complex controls into an immersive 3d world. If this game locks you into a plan when it comes to interacting with the world, then great. I don't think this game would work well with a lot of wandering and careful aiming.

This reminds me a bit of Wild 9. In that Shiny game, you couldn't directly attack enemies, but you could grab objects and smash enemies with them, or you could grab the enemies and smash them a couple of times or feed them to one of the convieniently located grinders all around the world.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2MIeQ7Rgco

Unfortunately, the game felt a lot like cleaning up your room. Grab enemy, put enemy in grinder. Grab next enemy. Smash enemy into floor. Repeat. It sounds like it should be a lot of sadistic fun, but in practice it took a single step process and drew it out into two or three.

Here's hoping that Bionic Commando focuses more on the exploration portion of swinging and less on grabbing enemies and putting them away.

looks pretty good. I like the environments and the fact that you can toss people around would be fun. Anyone looking to play this should try an old Midway game called Psi-Ops. You could manipulate objects using telepathic powers - like pick up things, throw people, jump into their bodies, etc. It was a very cool game that get widespread distribution. You can probably find it used for $10-$20.

This video reminds me of how much gamevideos.com sickens me. Seriously would it be so difficult to use a different website for embedded videos rather than making your readers suffer through the garbage that is gamevideos embeded players.

I'll be back later, gotta go give the owner of gamevideos.com his daily sodomizing with a serving spoon so that he might understand the pain he causes gamers everyday with his shitty streaming players. Hopefully it won't take many more years.

Something about this game seems too formulaic in it's approach. I can't get excited about games that don't have surprising or unexpected features. Everything about this trailer feels competent and polished but oh so predictable.

Looks good to me

But then again, i've always favored grappling items, like the Grapple Beam or the Hookshot family of Zelda items

Plus Octopus Missiles, and the grappling tools of SWAT Kats fame

Impressed cat isn't impressed.

Looks cool but also like one of those games that are only fun for 10 minutes. Well I hope it turns out to be a decent platformer or something like Devil may cry but with a gravy gun.

Indeed. It seems MADE for it. And visually it barely looks any better than what Project Hammer used to look like, so it could easily work. Hell, God of War looks better.

There's nothing stopping this from being on the Wii, and IMO it should be.

You know.... I'm not normally the type to be like "ZOMG THIS WOULD BE AWESOME ON THE WII!!!!111one".

But I have to say, the way the game looks like it is designed, it would almost work better with the Wii controls.
