Rock Band devs answer for niggling problems

Everyone knows that there have been plenty of big issues swirling around Rock Band lately, everything from guitar compatability to supply shortages. But what about some of the smaller problems? Things that would likely only bother the game's fans? Luckily, MTV's Multiplayer blog was there to answer the nitpickers' cries for help.
The blog asks Harmonix staffer Dan Teasdale about some of the smaller things, like why one avatar can't play multiple instruments, why there's no online for the Band World Tour mode and when we can expect some big name bands (AC/DC, the Beatles, etc.) to be added with the roster. Although Teasdale isn't able to make with too many big revelations, hopefully the nitpickers will at least be comforted by the knowledge that someone else out there shares their concerns.

Pretty stock answers.
tiremfej @ Dec 17th 2007 4:52PM
Ummm...you might want to change the title of the article. One could consider that pretty racist.
kastonie @ Dec 17th 2007 4:53PM
yea at first i thought it was an article about small african american children...
Yuccadude @ Dec 17th 2007 4:55PM
Because niggling is an actual word and unrelated to the word you're thinking of.
niggle: petty; trivial; inconsequential.
kastonie @ Dec 17th 2007 6:17PM
anyone remember that southpark episode?
Clue: People Who annoy you
N_GGERS
tiremfej @ Dec 17th 2007 5:00PM
I know what niggle means. If I didn't say it someone else was going to.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Dec 17th 2007 5:12PM
uh-huh, sure.
We believe you.
finnith @ Dec 17th 2007 5:32PM
I swear to god. I hate these people that scream out "racist" every time something that's not even the remotely racist.
bobartig @ Dec 17th 2007 11:59PM
This is like when people get offended by the word niggard, which means stingy, derived from a middle english word, nigon, which probably has old norse roots.
Whereas the N-word is derived from negro, black in many languages, which derives from the latin niger, also meaning black.
Tom @ Dec 27th 2007 3:49AM
ur a retard... the n word is not derives from negro... it used to mean trash
colin @ Dec 17th 2007 5:02PM
One could say that Harmonix was very niggardly with their answers.
colin17 @ Dec 17th 2007 5:05PM
is there really a short supply of rock bands?? because at my walmart there are two aisles filled with them so what the heck is going on.
dvnt @ Dec 17th 2007 5:43PM
I was at Best Buy the other day and they literally had a mountain of Rock Band boxes and I live in Chicago. So, uh, shortages? I think they're just trying to fuel demand for the game. It's sold out so it MUST be cool kind of thing.
The Artist formally known as Jesus @ Dec 17th 2007 6:07PM
at my Best Buy there is one huge stack of RockBand for 360
and two huge stacks of RockBand for PS3
Joop @ Dec 17th 2007 8:28PM
A sense of supply shortage is just because of a poor launch DAY combined with press releases based on Hamronix' wishful thinking.
I see copies all the time.

I'm wondering why it's such a pain in the ass to play someone online period. First you have to all know what instruments you are going to choose first, because if you guess the wrong one, you have to log out, and then change controllers, get the controller on the right quadrant, etc. Then if you want to change instruments, start the whole process over.
I have not figured out how to just switch from guitar to drums for example in a streamlined way. I usually have to back completely out of the game. I swear I've tried just swapping into the same usb port and that didn't work.
Does anyone have suggestions for the easiest way to swap instruments online?
dvnt @ Dec 17th 2007 5:16PM
How 'bout they let you disable the "Communicating with Central Rock Server" BS. F'ing annoying. I just want to play the game, not look at the drummer animation for a minute after every song.
losttoys @ Dec 17th 2007 6:14PM
Just disconnect your network cable. That is just what I do.
xeleion @ Jan 10th 2008 12:50AM
In addition to the controversial title, I love how the picture is of the white lead singer appearing to yell at the black drummer through the microphone.
When I read the title of the article, I first thought of the N-word too, but I wouldn't go as far as calling the title racist. Stepping in the gray area? Maybe. Bad taste? Eh, at this point you're looking into it too much.
Besides, I know half of you laughed at it anyway.
arrrgh @ Dec 17th 2007 5:38PM
oshit the nigglings are baackk!!! THEY'LL KILL US ALL AND EAT OUR PASTA
arrrgh @ Dec 17th 2007 5:44PM
no it's a term to describe nagging issues
i think it's british? it was used around here once before...
Kevin Leonard @ Dec 17th 2007 5:54PM
Now if only he explained why they haven't said one word about the full-album DLC since about 2 months before the game's release.
I swear, they're just going to let this go the way of all those "genre-oriented expansion packs" they promised after GH2.
That's right, Harmonix, just stop mentioning it and hope everyone forgets...
Kyera @ Dec 17th 2007 6:19PM
They've said they were pushed 'til '08. I think they said so a couple of weeks before the release.
Joe @ Dec 17th 2007 6:04PM
All I want is an updated DLC list.
After My Iron Lung, Buddy Holly and the Pretenders song tomorrow, we know nothing.
Do I save my points for better stuff? Do I splurge it now? I need to know! I mean, I'm already planning on spending 15 bucks on Christmas Day!
navstar @ Dec 17th 2007 6:47PM
I just want to know when "The Touch" will be available to download! That would be the best Rock Band song for ever 'n evar!!!
why not the LS2/LS7? @ Dec 17th 2007 6:19PM
here's a question:
What dummy made the battery compartment too small so rechargeable batteries don't fit correctly?
colin @ Dec 17th 2007 6:34PM
ummmm ... that was me .....
my bad.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Dec 18th 2007 10:54AM
Just force em in there.
Both the plastic and the metal parts should flex far enough for the slight clearance issue a swollen battery would cause.
Dracard @ Dec 17th 2007 8:52PM
I, for one, am kind of tired of big names.
(...Excuse me for wanting Relationship of Command by At the Drive-in. I know I'm not the only one who thinks those songs would be a lot of fun.)
BananaBoat @ Dec 18th 2007 1:34AM
This is only the 20th time that the word niggle has been used on Joystiq. Can't imagine why people would give up trying to claim it's racist. No sir, no reason to stop fighting the dumb fight.
Thefremen @ Dec 18th 2007 3:57AM
In before some niggardly person protests Joystiq and we get 404 errors when requesting the page.
Cain @ Dec 19th 2007 12:50PM
I just want them to fix the guitars. I am one of the few it seems that likes the ROck band guitar better than the Les Paul as far as how it feels and the fact the strum bar makes no noise. however, considering the fact my replacement guitar from EA overdrive doesn't work, its fret buttons are louder than the strum on the les paul (my original one was fine) and it still misses notes at times is rediculous.
I'll be ordering another one probably tomorrow. And will continue to order a new one until it gets fixed.
With all the stock on the shelves at various stores, how about fixing the guitar problems first, then putting more units out there. Seems you waste a lot of money sending guitars 2 day air, return shipping, when if you make them right the first time, you save.
