Take-Two opens 2K Marin, former BioShock devs reportedly on staff
Following last month's rumors which saw former 2K Boston BioShock developers starting a new studio in California, Take-Two has officially announcing the formation of 2K Marin. And that's pretty much all the company had to say. Take-Two fed a standard line that the new studio will focus on creating original intellectual property, but will also help in other established 2K brands.
The terse announcement of 2K Marin's formation will be followed up with game announcements early next year according to insiders we've spoken to, most likely on or before GDC in February. Aside from knowing that 2K Marin exists, everything is still hush-hush.

2k always had a studio in marin (in novato) I guess this is an official new division in the company now rather than just an office.

Im kind of new here, new poster but not reader. I read occasional stories that interest me and the occasional comment. Although I can confidently say that Fernando is probably one of the worst and most hated posters. Just an observation though.

Bioshock 2!? Yay
JonFitt @ Dec 17th 2007 12:43PM
Not Bioshock 2.
Every one knows that the next one is either DarkShock or HolyShock.
Farseer (GDI) @ Dec 17th 2007 12:47PM
So, after they've explored DarkShock and HolyShock, is that when we finally see MeteoShock?
JonFitt @ Dec 17th 2007 12:51PM
Yes. It has you running around trying to stop a giant Meteor from destroying the planet. In order to do this you will have to collect all the Splicer's masks. They have special powers.
Anticrawl @ Dec 17th 2007 2:00PM
The next step in the series is clearly MetroShock, where the antagonist gets special powers the that push the boundries of genders and as he walks the fine line of defined genders he encounters 3 types of recycled enemies who he has to either shoot with a gun (with a gun system that is so dull and lack of any satisfaction it makes one want to put a bullet in their head) or shoot them with 'powers' (ie. designer clothes, make-up, shoes or use telekenisis to style their hair).
There will also have major choices that alter the ending of the game, which is to either leave the football players manly or turn them into fruity metros concerned with the proper humidity to keep their hair from frizzing.

The next game is obviously DualShock.
zero @ Dec 17th 2007 2:22PM
Does this actually mean anything?
JonFitt @ Dec 17th 2007 2:48PM
Yes. It means that a new studio has opened in California. Hurrah for the success of the games industry!
Any new studio opening is good news. Much better than a few years ago hearing about lots of small studios being closed and their products moved to a few major studios.

The only reason I think this is cool is because I live in Novato.
