I'll definitely have to try these out. As for now I'd say the Ninja classic "N" is my favorite freeware game of all time, I can't wait for the DS version =)

Technically that game isn't yet completed, which is why I haven't played much of it. The last thing I want to do is go through that crazy stuff and then have to do it again when the full version is done.

Kinda funny - I was just talking to Cactus (the guy behind Clean Asia!) the other day about some advice for a SHMUP I'm working on. Small world!

That "Crayon Physics" game is amazing! I can't stop watching that YouTube video. I need to get a tablet PC and play that game.

Knytt Stories is an excellent game that, in my opinion, deserves its spot as #1. If you haven't played it yet, download it and enjoy! Congratulations Nifflas!

Cave Story should be number one. If you haven't played it, and you like the Metroid or Castlevania games at all, give it a shot; despite being free, it's every bit as good as Super Metroid and Symphony of the Night.

The combat is awesome, with some very memorable boss fights, the world is huge and beautifully detailed, the plot is surprisingly memorable, and the old-school music and graphics are pleasant and fit the game perfectly.

It's an absolute classic, it's free, and it should run on any windows PC that's from the mid-80's or later. Do yourself a favor and play it.

Oh, and Knytt and Crayon Physics are really fun too.

Yes, yes, yes to Knytt Stories. It's like a tiny version of Shadow of the Colossus.
