I've downloaded it but have not bothered with connecting to live yet. The game does disconnect you just when the start up screens load so I can see how people are having problems.

I'm about half way through a season in single pleyer. It plays exactly like it should so you have no worries on that end. It's a top notch old school footy game.

Wow. How does something this big get past both the developer's testing and QC (if they have one, heh) and Microsoft's supposed lengthy approval process?

COD4 started doing this to me last night. Says that I have to be signed into Live even though I am. Have to exit and sign in and out from the dashboard for it to work. Anybody else?

Apparently... "The injury not only meant that Green missed the World Cup but also the start of the 2006-07 season."

Harsh.

But highly amusing.

He'd torn his hamstring. It was 3 Weeks before the start of the World Cup. Effectively ruling him out of the tournament.

This might not be an actual bug with SWoS. I -- and everyone I know -- have had this randomly happen to me with a number of games.

Statement from Microsoft:

It has come to our attention that an incorrect version of Sensible World of Soccer was made available on Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft® which has since been taken down. This version incorrectly disconnected users that attempted to connect to Xbox LIVE.

We are currently investigating the issue and will have a correctly functioning version of Sensible World of Soccer available soon.

Any users that have already downloaded Sensible World of Soccer will need to delete their copy of the game and download it again when the correctly functioning version is available in order to enjoy online play via Xbox LIVE. Following this process does not incur any additional charges.

Please look out for the fully functional version of Sensible World of Soccer soon. We thank you for your patience.

Guys I know you have used this video before, but I don't really think it's funny...the guy ruptured his groin. If he was faking it it would have been funny, but he wasn't faking it.

If he hurt himself saving kittens from a fire, and was maimed for life, I'll give you it would not be funny.

A grown man hurting himself playing a game for a living, and causing essentially an own-goal... very funny.

seriously, why hasn't anyone else mentioned this yet? It's seriously bothering me. I went to the Major Nelson thing talking about it, and he says it like it isn't a big deal. First off, if they're collecting information from you and spewing crap advertisements all over your eyes, why the hell is the game so expensive? Microsoft needs to realize that ads need to GO AWAY when you pay for something or if they don't want them to take them out, LOWER YOUR EFFING PRICES. Assholes.

Clearly they thought two things:

Targeted ads are new features
You should pay for new features

Pretty lame, eh?
