Zero Punctuation affected by Mass Effect's verbiage
67
Yahtzee delves into the interstellar drama of Mass Effect this week and walks away with the same issues as many others, but explains it in a way that only the British expatriate can. We already know Yahtzee doesn't like America very much, so we'll take it as a back-handed compliment that he doesn't mind listening to all the North American accents in Mass Effect as compared to Wookies grunt groan bellowing (what do Wookies do?) through Knights of the Old Republic. As his issue with Mass Effect lies in its wealth of dialog and text, we'll just end this post now.

With AVGN repeating himself over and over and the recently lack of Little Kuriboh on the internets I can truly say that Zero punctuation (that and Naruto the abridged series) is the only thing on the internets that can truly make me LOL, yes watching old memes in YTMND and 4chan is entertaining from time to time but these days both sites are so full of failure I avoid them at any cost.
I never played Mass effect because my XB360 got the RRODs with is pretty much like virtual AIDS but hell is made by Bioware and I loved so much Never winter nights that I now relate the word Bioware with the words “Epic” and “Win” and if it’s anything like Oblivion is instant win.

Ah, yes. You're right about the lack of Internet LOLs. But I still find AVGN funny (in fact, I haven't checked for new videos for a while...).
But the thing about JRPGs, that was more or less the first time I really disagreed with Yahtzee. I love JRPGs, but I do not at all like Western RPGs.

AVGN latest work isn't quite as good. I mean earlier reviews were truthfully funny but I feel he is going downhill and with screwattack whoring AVGN name in every chance they can in favor of their own shows and persons well that doesn't helps.
JRPGS I have to say I agree with him, turn based combat is getting old and I believe Square Enix knows this, to support this statement play FF11 and 12.FF11 and 12 are a bit too similar to WoW and Guildwars.
Now turn based combat have so many problems but copying western Rpgs won’t help Jrpgs either I mean the D&D formula has been used so many times. I’m not a developer but as a client I would like to see something new but the point I think we should all agree is what the fuck with the characters? Seriously JRPG characters couldn’t be more metrosexual and stupid.

In case anyone is wondering (now, I can't spell this word) calipygean (when he calls himself a superman) means "having a sweet ass".
So, find out how it's really spelled and call someone you have a crush on that.

While Mss Effect is pretty awesome, I have to agree that there is simply too much dialogue in the game. Not that it's bad; the dialogue is well written and beautifully performed. However, some parts of Mass Effect seemed more fit for a novel or film than a game.

Bonus points for including Babylon Zoo's "Spaceman" at the end. That song pwned back in the day.

Is it true that they copied the menus and inventories from KotOR? If so, please excuse me while I go outside and shoot myself. repeatedly.

Is it wrong that I wanted to hook up with her BECAUSE her name was "Ashley Williams"? I kept expecting my guy to call her "Ash".

Odd. I realise the game loads, but I've not noticed it as a problem. The elevator between the two parts of the ship doesn't seem to take that long for me.
As for the 'in game' loading most times it happens in like 1-2 seconds and then things continue. It doesn't seem to be a big a problem for me as it is for other people.
Maybe my 360 is being fed steroids.

I can't believe people are taking these videos seriously. They are akin to Weird Al doing a cover of a pop stars hit song. If your game is good enough, you'll get a review. It's meant as a FUNNY JAB to the developers.
Sit back and laugh a little. Complaining he was too harsh IS THE POINT. To make you LAUGH.

So he apparently DOESN'T like Planescape: Torment. Shame on you, Yahtzee. Shame.

I honestly don't understand his complaints about the combat system. Sure, there are some things to be complained about, that the combat system is a little foreign and clunky at first with NO explanation other than a few quick hardly readable blurbs shot out in the middle of a fight you're already losing...but I just told my guys to form up on me and they never got in my way. In fact, idiots who can't tell the difference between enemies (with big red targetting triangles on them) and their allies (whom they dick around with for 25) seem like the sort of people Yahtzee would be making fun OF, not joining ranks WITH.
And for the record, Mass Effect does have a good story :P. A pinch of Star Wars, a dash of Battlestar Galactica themes (you're thinking Geth? Just wait until later), and a bucketful of a living, breathing Universe where humans aren't the bastions of peace and leadership for no apparent reason like in Star Trek, and you've got Mass Effect (which, consequently, is an actually very well explored fictional concept of affecting the Mass of Space-Time with the newly discovered element Zero, which will no doubt be explored further in relation to the developement and evolution of The Reapers in later games :O).
