Gaze upon the latest bundle for Japanese PlayStation 3 gamers. The Devil May Cry 4 40GB PS3 bundle comes in either black or white and includes a copy of Devil May Cry 4 (obviously) and a Blu-ray of bonus content. It will retail for 47,800 yen (approx. US $422), which is about 7,800 yen (US $69) more than the standalone 40GB model.
What makes this bundle interesting is that DMC4 is not an exclusive title. We're going to assume Sony struck some exclusive deal for bundling the game, although we'd love to see Microsoft unveil a DMC4 Xbox 360 bundle. It might actually help their hardware sales to confuse Japanese consumers thinking they just picked up a PS3. Devil May Cry 4 is due out January 31, 2008, in Japan and February 5 in North America.

Is PS3 going to have a bundle for every AAA title that comes out?
I'm surprised there wasn't a Ratchet & Clank bundle.

Why not? MS has been bundling like a mother over in Japan too.

Dynasty Warriors 6 bundle. This makes the second non-exclusive bundle. MS has bundled a non exclusive as well.

Ok Sheppy, the dual profiles are getting old :P
Anyway... This looks pretty cool. I'm a sucker for the white (yes I have an iPod lol).
A friend at work just bought her kids a PS3 for Christmas (she had already bought it otherwise I would have suggested a 360 like most normal people). She bought them the 80GB w/Motorstorm and then got Ratchet and Heavenly Sword, and an extra controller.
Where I'm going with this is, they had recently gotten a second PS2, the slim one, and now she is going to sell it to me for $40. (My 3rd PS2 ugh)
So Sheppy (and others),
What are some good PS2 games? I'm not a huge RPG fan though...

Or should I mention I got this name because, once upon a time, I saw a chinese dubbed, english subbed version of Darbie O'Gill and the Little People? I swear, if anything is funnier on this or any planet, I want to know of it.

Damn, forgot to ask. Raikage, what games are you normally into. Rather than just listing tons of games off, I'd like a basis to run from. I mean, I have 140+ PS2 games and constantly buying more. So I'm certain if I haven't played it, I've at least heard of it.

Well, My favorite genre is stealth(I know strange choice) I love Racing, Action, 2D fighters, shooters, Games like Shadow of The Colossus/Ico. I do like some RPGs, mostly action oriented though.
But I'm mostly looking for exclusives I missed after PS2 #1 broke (March 2001).

Hmmm, interesting. Most of what I'm about to say should be easily acquired via bargain bins.
In stealth, I'd say give Rogue Ops a try. I hear good things (and it's on my rack... I swear I'll play it some day). Also, I'd suggest giving Red Ninja a shot. Mainly, despite the popular bashes, if you can get a headset for PS2, give Manhunt a definate shot. Game gives excessively tense moments and the headset makes for one hell of an experience.
Action flare, I'd go into the Onimusha series which has been phenominal, even when at it's lowest point (2). I'll forgive 2 though, it's hard to make a good game without Takashi Kaneshiro. Also in the action genre, give the 3D Castlevanias a shot. I liked em. DMC is a good goto series but the game gets abusively hard. As do both of the Shinobi games (Shinobi and Nightshade). And naturally, you HAVE to play God of War.
Action RPG fair, I'd say give Kingdom Hearts series a shot. Also good mentions in here the Dark Cloud series, Rogue Galaxy, Tales of _______, and Shaolin Monks.
As for 2D fighters... well, can't help you much there. I'd say look into what SNK Playmore has been releasing in the states recently. Also snag a few Guilty Gear XX games and dare I even say it, give KOF:MI or 2006 a shot. They stay fairly true to their 2D roots but they mix 2D gameplay with the 3D varied combo systems.
I'd say that's a hell of a start right there.

Well, good news and bad news.
Good News: PS3 is region free and the BluRay region between Japan and the US is the same. So a Japanese unit can play domestic blurays and it's very easy to set your system to English.
Bad News: PS2 and PS1 games still remain region locked due to the request of publishers.
Good News: Since only the 20GB comes in white anyway, that won't be an issue. Why worry about the region locking in something you can't play?
Conclusion: If you want a white PS3 and don't care about BC...

Just import it. $30 more for the white finish.

Sounds like some great news for the Japanese people that dont have a ps3 yet.
I need to try and get back into this series. I abandoned after 2 and all the talk about the rediculous dificulty with the dmc3 kind of kept me away.

DMC3 was actually a little more friendly than DMC1. It's still just as challenging, but it's just less hard (in the frustrating sense). The Special Edition balanced the difficulty a little more and gives you Virgil as a playable character. You're missing out on something by skipping it.
DMC2 sucked so hard there's not an appropriate joke comparison to go with it. Its just bad.

Phranctoast,
You are missing on an AMAZING title, yes, the game was hard, but when has there been an easy DMC? that's where this game truly shines...
Also, yes, there were talks about the ridiculous difficulty of DMC3, but believe me, it was all cheap talk, the game isn't that hard...but then again, the "Dante's awakening" (I think it was called that, right?) version has this mode which is 3 times harder than the hardest mode of the normal version...I think is "Dante must die" mode...
And like Trev above mentioned, Virgil as a playable char is also a big bonus on that other version of DMC3
One of the only games that still keeps the challenge...sigh

This "Bundle" doesn't make sense. Usually you save money by buying a bundle but with this bundle you pay an extra $10 then what the system and the game costs and all you get is a Blu-Ray of extras.

@Karen, i'm sorry, but i don't know what those charts say.
Every japanese/korean person i see on the train with the DS has the R4...all my friends have it and we all have the Wiikey as well. They can actually sell the mod chips over in the East, they just can't advertise what they are for.

Software sales and piracy, then again, those charts say that Japan has 21 Million DS's around and one of the best selling titles (The new super mario bros) managed to sell 5 million over its lifespan which means there's 16 Million potential pirates out there.
In short Crono's argument against piracy is as baseless as your for piracy.

Pretty Awesome!
Except I would wish that it was a special edition PS3. With a Devil May Cryish PS3 font and maybe Nero or Dante on the side of it.
Anyways I would've picked this up if it hit the states but I got the Motorstorm bundle instead.

About the price, remember before the ps3 launched? The Japanese fans where complaining loudly about the price, while the people in the USA where bragging about it being a good value. Repeating what Ken K. told them word for word. So there for, Japan got a $79 price drop before the system launched! (those smart Japanese consumers!) So my point is it will most likely be a higher price here, not a $20 price difference for DMC. Because the system is cheaper there(even after the currency conversion).
